Harness: Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale wraps up
The 2021 edition of the Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale ended on Saturday afternoon. Today's second session of the event finished up 17.2% on average over last year's second day ($19,687 versus $16,797), and the overall event average was up 11.66% ($21,441 in 2021, $19,202 in 2020). The total gross was $8,756,000, up from 2020's $6,912,800. 416 horses were sold this year compared to 360 a year ago.
Two Swan For All colts cracked six figures on Saturday. HIP 353 Ponda Chase, bred and consigned by Pond-A-Acres, went to Peter Wrenn for $160,000. Out of the Muscle Hill mare Wildflower (1:55, $267,487), Ponda Chase is a full brother to Ponda Adventure (1:54 2/5, $271,468).

Right behind Ponda Chase was HIP 358 Brookview Darius, who was acquired by Alfred Kowalewski for $105,000. Bred and consigned by Brookview Farms, Brookview Darius is out of the Jailhouse Jesse mare Witty's Winner (1:54 4/5, $95,757), which means Brookview Darius is a full brother to Brookview Bolt (1:53 1/5, $361,427).
