Harness: Go On Boy best in Prix de France
The next major event during the winter meeting at Vincennes Racecourse in Paris, the Prix de France, took place on Sunday, and Go On Boy, coming off a third in the Prix d'Amerique, would emerge victorious.
With Prix d'Amerique champion Idao de Tillard on the sidelines for now, Go On Boy was the big favorite and didn't disappoint. After getting away in about fifth, trainer-driver Romain Derieux guided Go On Boy three-wide and then two-wide to take the lead away from Inmarosa (Léo Abrivard) with about 1,200 meters to go in the 2,100 meter contest.
Once he secured the top spot, Go On Boy was in charge the remainder of the way and kept clear to the wire, defeating Inmarosa by a couple of lengths. Former Elitloppet winner Don Fanucci Zet (Paul-Philippe Ploquin) was third, followed by Emeraude de Bais (Franck Nivard) and Working Class Hero (Mathieu Mottier).
Go On Boy won in a time of 1'10"1, a mile rate of 1:52 4/5.

"He deserved this victory. After his third place in the Prix d'Amérique, I had a few small regrets. I was determined to win this Prix de France," said Derieux. "The race went like a dream. It didn't start quickly, and I took the lead very quickly as I wanted and then it was a stroll. The Prix de France is one of the most beautiful races of the winter meeting, and it would have bothered me if a horse like that had not won such an event."
A 9-year-old stallion by Password, Go On Boy is trained by Derieux for owner Ecurie Nixonn. Go On Boy won for the 14th time in his career and has now earned 2,024,870 Euros.
