Harness: Gains galore at Ohio Selected Jug Sale

Buoyed by six offspring of Downbytheseaside that sold for $100,000 or more, the 2021 edition of the Ohio Selected Jug Sale, held Friday at the Pickaway Agriculture and Event Center in Circleville, finished up 12 percent on average year-over-year and the gross soared by over $800,000 from 2020.
The topper was HIP 139 Elusive Beauty, a daughter of Downbytheseaside who went to Odds On Racing for $200,000. Bred and consigned by Steiner Stock Farm, Elusive Beauty is out of the Art Major mare Swinging Beauty (1:49 4/5, $893,286), which makes her a sister to last year's Little Brown Jug winner Captain Barbossa (by Captaintreacherous, 1:47 1/5, $561,120) and to Pepsi North America Cup third-place finisher Whichwaytothebeach (by Somebeachsomewhere, 1:49 2/5, $419,047).
Diamond Creek Farm had three Downbytheseasides in the top five, with HIP 208 Aqueduct leading the way at $152,000. Aqueduct, a filly purchased by agent Bryan Montgomery for Nancy Takter, is the third foal out of the Rocknroll Hanover mare Gettingreadytoroll (1:49 2/5, $271,149). HIP 207 Hysterical, another filly, was right behind her at $145,000, and she was taken by Mark Evers. Hysterical is the fourth foal out of the Rocknroll Hanover mare Hollyrocker (1:52 1/5, $58,466), a full sister to Blue Moon Stride (1:48 4/5, $1,182,994).
As agent for breeder Sugar Valley Farms, Diamond Creek consigned HIP 66 Ants Marching, a colt who Takter grabbed for $125,000. Ants Marching is the fifth foal out of the Rock N Roll Heaven mare Passionate Beauty (1:55 3/5, $13,594), a half-sister to Sportswriter (by Artsplace, 1:48 3/5, $1,562,664) and to Precocious Beauty (by Art Major, 1:50 1/5, $838,004).

Seatoshiningsea was sold by agent Spring Haven Farm for Rail's Edge Farm, and Rose Run Yukon was bred and consigned by Rose Run Farm.
Rose Run also had the one non-Downbytheseaside entrant in the top five in HIP 126 Rose Run Yorick, a What The Hill colt who fetched $160,000 from Hatfield Stables. Rose Run Yorick is the fourth foal out of the Credit Winner mare She's Nutz, a full sister to Crazed (1:52 2/5, $1,063,059).
