Harness: Curtain lowered on 2022 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale
The 2022 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale ended on Friday night with a new record gross of $65,289,000 for 886 horses sold, and the average of $73,690 was up 12.1 percent from last year.
Progeny of Downbytheseaside were popular throughout the final session, with HIP 809 Behest topping the action at $200,000. A filly consigned by Hunterton Sales Agency and purchased by Brian Brown, Behest's dam Endowment is a sister to $1.6 million-plus earner Artspeak.
Two Indiana-based sires also each had a six-figure seller. HIP 876 Swaggy Cal, a Rockin Image colt, went for $130,000 to Greg Luther. That Hunterton-consigned colt is the first foal out of a half-sister to Sportswriter and a full sister to Precocious Beauty, the dam of Tall Dark Stranger. Meanwhile, HIP 800 Coddle, a Swan For All filly consigned by Hunterton Sales Agency, went for $100,000 to agent Erv Miller.
