Harness: Curtain comes down on 2021 Standardbred Horse Sale

The 2021 edition of the Standardbred Horse Sale in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, ended on Friday with the second day of the mixed catalog.
HIP 1453 Quickest Hanover was the session-topper after going to Hanover Shoe Farm for $450,000. A 3-year-old daughter of Father Patrick consigned by Perferred Equine Marketing Inc. as agent, she is a sister to Lifetime Pursuit (1:50 4/5, $1,065,586).
Coming in behind Quickest Hanover was HIP 1391 Empressive Hill, who was purchased by LeTrot President and French breeder Jean-Pierre Barjon for $410,000. A 3-year-old daughter of Muscle Hill consigned by Northwood Bloodstock Agency as agent, Empressive Hill won this year's Kentucky Championship Series final and has earned $273,775 to go with a mark of 1:51 2/5.
Agent Shaun Laungani went to $370,000 to get HIP 1449 My Abigail from the Preferred Equine consignment. A 3-year-old daughter of Bar Hopping. My Abigail is a half-sister to Six Pack (1:49 1/5, $1,939,604).
Both HIP 1443 Fortitude Fashion and HIP 1803 Gyre Hanover were consigned by Preferred Equine and each fetched $350,000. A 3-year-old Father Patrick filly, Fortitude Fashion is a half-sister to Hey Blondie (1:53 1/5, $468,080) and from the family of Muscle Hill. Gyre Hanover, a 2-year-old of Father Patrick, won two of four starts this year, and she's a full sister to Gangster Hanover (1:52 2/5, $363,438).

The highest-priced racehorse sold was last year's Breeders Crown 3-Year-Old Colt and Gelding Pace upsetter Sandbetweenmytoes. Going through the ring as HIP 1523 and consigned by Preferred Equine, he was grabbed by Greg Luther for $305,000.
The mixed sale finished with a gross of $27,012,000 and an average of $51,845 for 521 offerings. The total was level with 2019 ($27,021,000) despite having 142 fewer offerings this year, and the average was up 27.2 percent from $40,756.
