Harness: Come See The Show brings $425,000 to head final session in Harrisburg

Come See The Show, a stakes winner last year and the second foal out of the great double millionaire Put On A Show, went to Steve Jones from Cameo Hills Farm for $425,000 to lead the way as the 2018 edition of the Standardbred Horse Sale in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, wrapped up with Friday's second day of the mixed sale.
The 3-year-old daughter of Somebeachsomewhere, who was a late entrant to the supplement catalog, returned to the races on October 25 after being off since last year's Breeders Crown. As a 2-year-old, she won two Pennsylvania Sire Stakes divisions and was third in the She's A Great Lady at Mohawk. She has banked $131,866 and has a mark of 1:52 3/5.
Come See The Show sold as HIP 1945 and gave agent Concord Stud Farm their third $400,000-plus seller in Harrisburg, joining yearlings Fifty Cent Piece ($500,000) and Krickan ($415,000).
Earlier in the sale, John Cancelliere purchased HIP 1449 Nutcracker Sweet for $300,000. Nutcracker Sweet, a 3-year-old Bettor's Delight colt also consigned by Concord Stud Farm as agent, was the runner-up in this year's Hempt final at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono and is a full brother to Bettor Sweet and a half-brother to Sweet Lou. Nutcracker Sweet has put away $389,094 and owns a mark of 1:50 2/5.
In the fabulous fillies portion of the day, Crawford Farms grabbed HIP 1336 Alexis Faith for $215,000. Alexis Faith, a 3-year-old daughter of American Ideal consigned by Preferred Equine Marketing, Inc., was last year's New York Sire Stakes champion for the division, now has $514,713 earned, and possesses a mark of 1:50 3/5.
Lady Shadow (HIP 1325), who sold in an online auction last year, was on the move again this year, as Virgil Morgan Jr. purchased her from the consignment of Northwood Bloodstock Agency for $210,000. Now a 7-year-old, the multi-time stakes and award winner by Shadow Play has pocketed $2,029,469 lifetime.
Rounding out the top five and the $200,000 sellers was HIP 1340 Butchie Beach, who brought $200,000 from Fair Winds Farm. A sophomore daughter of Somebeachsomewhere, Butchie Beach has won three times, stashed away $30,436, and owns a mark of 1:49 2/5. Butchie Beach, who was consigned by Preferred Equine Marketing, Inc. is also a half-sister to millionaire Boston Red Rocks.
The average for the two-day mixed sale of $29,498 was virtually flat year-over-year (last year's mixed sale average was $29,471). The gross was $18,259,000, which was down from last year's $19,451,000 (41 more entries last year).
