Harness: Chapter Seven colt Seven Spankings heads Morrisville Sale
Seven Spankings, one of just three Chapter Seven foals available, fetched $50,000 from Wanda Polisseni and her Purple Haze Stable to lead Sunday afternoon's Morrisville College Sale in New York.
Bred by the college in Morrisville, Seven Spankings is out of Spin The Planet (Pine Chip), who has produced four six-figure earners, including 2011 New York Sire Stakes champion 2-year-old colt trotter Royal Shyster and multiple NYSS leg winner Spin Spanky Spin.
Checking in second on the day was Conway Hall colt Barn Holden, the first foal out of several time NYSS round winner Barn Babe (Cash Hall, 1:54 2/5, $350,463. He sold for $45,000 and was a buy-back by co-breeder Steven Pratt.
Rounding out the top three at $31,000 was Crazed filly Crazy For Sofia, who was acquired by Jim DeArmaul. Bred by K R Breeding LLC., she is out of the Conway Hall mare Snowblind Lindy (2:01, $99,050).
The sale was virtually flat year-over-year average-wise. This year 60 horses passed through the ring for an average of $13,475, while last year 72 head brought an average of $13,440.
