Harness: Boston Red Rocks coming to Winbak Farm of New York

webmaster|Nov 01, 2018

Winbak Farm of New York is excited to announce Boston Red Rocks, p, 2, 1:50 3/5; 3, 1:49 3/5f; 1:48 2/5f -'18 ($1,365,823), will be standing in New York for 2019. The stallion will be standing his first year in the upcoming season.

“I am excited about having a new Pacer in New York,” said Joe Thomson. “He brings a new and fresh face to Winbak of New York. We will be a big supporter to the “Rock.”

Awarded the USHWA Dan Patch 2-Year-Old Colt Pacer of the Year in 2015, Boston Red Rocks’ 2-year old stakes wins included the Breeders Crown Final, Governors Cup Final and two New Jersey Sire Stakes divisions. He was second in the Breeders Crown elimination, Governors Cup elimination, Lou Babic Stakes Final, and New Jersey Sire Stakes Final.

Boston Red Rocks won the Breeders Crown Final against Betting Line, Control The Moment, and Racing Hill.

“Boston Red Rocks has been a tremendous thrill for us,” said Rick Berks. “First, him winning the Breeders Crown, Governors Cup and Dan Patch Award as a 2-year old was exciting and then, him winning stake races as a 3-year-old and setting his lifetime mark as a 5-year-old was also exciting.”

At 3, Boston Red Rocks won the Matron Stakes, North America Cup elimination, New Jersey Futurity division, and New Jersey Sire Stakes division. He was also second in the Anthony Abbatiello Classic and Max Hempt Memorial early closer elimination. “Rock” was third in Hap Hansen Progress Pace elimination and Final, Max C. Hempt Memorial early closer Final, and New Jersey Sire Stakes division.

At 4, Boston Red Rocks was second in Ben Franklin early closer elimination, Graduate Series Final, The Graduate, and William Haughton Memorial. He was third in Jim Ewart Memorial and Joe Gerrity Jr Memorial.

“He’s won on the front end and from off the pace, yet oddly enough some of his best races were ones he didn’t win but paced the mile in (1):47 while doing all the heavy lifting,” said Berks. “Boston Red Rocks has a great attitude and is a pleasure to be around. We have every expectation that he will be as good or better as a stallion.”.

Boston Red Rocks, sired by the late great Rocknroll Hanover, should be a great cross for mares sired by Art Major, Artsplace and Bettor’s Delight.

“Winbak Farm of New York is excited to be adding Boston Red Rocks to our 2019 stallion roster,” said Noelle Duspiva, New York Farm Manager. “He will be a great addition to our line up.”
