Harness: 2023 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale in the books
The 2023 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale concluded on Friday night, and when all the numbers were tabulated, it showed a record gross of $67,916,300 and the second-highest average in the history of the event at $71,566, trailing only last year's record sale ($73,690).
HIP 890 Highway Boy, a Downbytheseaside half-brother to 1:47 3/5 performer Hurrikane Kingcole, topped the closing session after going to Country Club Acres for $150,000. He was consigned by All American Harnessbreds.
Downbytheseaside dominated the proceedings on Friday beyond just Highway Boy as the top 12 sellers were all his offspring, including seven that made it into six figures.
