HIP 1414 Fire Start Hanover, a former Breeders Crown and Dan Patch Award winner who has earned over $1.2 million lifetime, sold for $550,000 to top the final session of the 2022 Standardbred Horse Sale on Friday in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Consigned by Preferred Equine Marketing, Fire Start Hanover, a 4-year-old daughter of Somebeachsomewhere was purchased by Cindy Stewart of Hunterton Farm. Stewart would also spend $500,000 on HIP 1429 Selfie Queen, a stakes-winning 3-year-old Muscle Hill filly who has a mark of 1:51 1/5 and earnings of $479,882. Selfie Queen was also consigned by Preferred Equine Marketing.

HIP 1507 Double Deceiver, a Cantab Hall gelding who just won the Matron final for 3-year-old males on Thursday, was another $500,000 seller for Preferred Equine Marketing and was acquired by Bengt Agerup's Brixton Medical.

Preferred Equine Marketing also had HIP 1405 Bare My Soul, a daughter of Chapter Seven who was fourth in the Breeders Crown 3-Year-Old Filly Trot final, reach the $500,000 mark. She was grabbed by Eric Crocker, the manager of Winning Key Farms.

Rounding out the top five were two trotters purchased by agent Robert Lindstrom. Lindstrom shelled out $430,000 to take HIP 1425 Peyton Hanover, a 3-year-old daughter of Muscle Hill who won the New Jersey Classic B level final and a Grand Circuit race at The Red Mile this year, and then went to $410,000 to secure HIP 1500 Venerate, a 4-year-old son of Love You who won the 2020 Mohawk Million. Peyton Hanover was consigned by Preferred Equine Marketing and Venerate by Diamond Creek.

The mixed sale concluded with 491 lots bringing a gross of $25,669,000 and an average of $52,279. The total fell some from last year's $27,012,000 when 521 offerings were available, but the average was up slightly from 2021's $51,845.
