The 2022 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale's upward trend from 2021 continued unabated in Wednesday's third session. The gross was $11,994,000, which increased from $10,169,000 in the corresponding session a year ago, and the average of $51,038 was also up 11.4 percent over last year's third day. "I think the sale's been very kind to a lot of sellers and the buyers seem to be very enthusiastic right through the whole week. I think that's reflective of the quality of the catalog that we've been offered, co-sales manager David Reid said. "We've talked about it all week - about the sire power, how deep the catalog is, how strong the maternal lines are, the past performances of our sale graduates, I think think it's a combination. It all comes together, and it's come together like Randy (Manges) and myself would have hoped it would've. We're just happy to be able to represent the breeders that are presenting their horses here. "It's been a great week weather-wise, we've had a great international crowd, we've had a great Northeast crowd, and we have the Canadians with a big crowd here. Really, from a horse sale point of view, there's no negative, and to overcome the world economic situation between the currency, the stock market, and the inflation, I think it's been a great week so far. I just hope it continues the rest of the week." ► Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter Wednesday's action saw 25 yearlings enter six figure territory and was led by HIP 528 Stella Volo at $250,000. A filly from the first crop of Six Pack, Stella Volo was from the Kentuckiana Farms consignment and was purchased by Dr. Fred Kruszelnicki. Another trotting filly occupied the second spot on the chart, that being HIP 396 Midwind Dolce. She was acquired by Euro Stall SE for $215,000. A Father Patrick filly selling from the consignment of agent Peninsula Farm, Midwind Dolce is a half-sister to this year's Pennsylania 2-year-old filly trot champion Bond. The penultimate day of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale will take place on Thursday with HIPs 607-771 going through the ring starting at 2 p.m. --quote gathered by Chris Tully--
