Happyfromthegitgo gets revenge in Opelousas

OPELOUSAS, La. - Happyfromthegitgo ran her local record to a perfect 3 for 3 Saturday night as she captured the $75,000 Opelousas Stakes at Evangeline Downs. Deltalicious, who handed Happyfromthegitgo her only career defeat in the Louisiana Cup Juvenile Filly Stakes over a sloppy track at Louisiana Downs last month, finished three lengths back in second, followed by Time Due and Send Rose.

Trained by Steve Asmussen and ridden by Shane Sellers, Happyfromthegitgo ($3.40) stalked the early pace before lodging her bid nearing the furlong pole. A 2-year-old daughter of Easyfromthegitgo out of the Distorted Humor mare Time to Enjoy, Happyfromthegitgo covered the six furlongs in 1:12.64 over a fast strip.

After also accounting for the filly division of the D. S. "Shine" Young Futurity earlier in the summer, Happyfromthegitgo has now earned almost $150,000 for the Rajun Cajun Stable.
