Happy Ticket gets in a breeze

Happy Ticket, winner of the Grade 2, $300,000 Fleur de Lis at Churchill Downs most recently and one of the top mares in the country, breezed five furlongs at her Louisiana Downs base Thursday as she continues preparation for her next start, which will come at either Saratoga Race Course or Del Mar, said her trainer, Andrew Leggio Jr.

She worked in 1:01.60.

"It was easy, just enough to keep her fit," said Leggio.

Happy Ticket will make her next start in either the Grade 1, $250,000 Go for Wand for fillies and mares at 1 1/8 miles at Saratoga on July 30, or the Grade 2, $300,000 Clement Hirsch Handicap at 1 1/16 miles at Del Mar on Aug. 8.

Leggio said Julien Leparoux has the mount for either race. The nation's leading rider by wins, Leparoux was aboard Happy Ticket for her last start on June 17.

In the Fleur de Lis, Happy Ticket became the first Louisiana-bred filly or mare to go over $1 million in earnings.
