Hanover Raceway: Sweet Soul David cruises in Balanced Image final
Sweet Soul David was a heavy favorite in the C$50,000 Balanced Image final for 2-year-old trotters on Saturday afternoon at Hanover Raceway and didn't disappoint, romping to a 2:00 3/5 victory over the half-mile oval.
Coming off a win in his elimination, Sweet Soul David started from post four and was directed right to the point by driver Denis St. Pierre. Sweet Soul David was clear on the engine through stations of 29 2/5, 1:01 2/5, and 1:31 2/5, and he opened up in a 29 1/5 final kicker, crossing the line seven lengths ahead of Diehard Seelster (Shawn Steacy). Tymal Chrome (Scott Coulter) was the third-place finisher.
A gelded son of Kadabra-A Sundae On Sunday (Chocolatier), Sweet Soul David is co-owned by trainer Patrick Lang in partnership with Dewitt Stables, Paul Kleinpaste, and Garth Bechtel. Sweet Soul David has two wins and a second from five chances, and he has now earned C$37,095. The 1-2 choice, he paid $3.00 to win.
