The 2018 Belmont meet was buoyed by the Triple Crown bid of Justify in the Belmont Stakes. The all-sources handle for that card was $137,954,895. This year, there was no Triple Crown on the line on the Belmont Stakes card, which had an all-sources handle of $100,881,281.
This year, NYRA conducted twilight racing on Thursdays instead of Fridays. Largely due to inclement weather, those days did poorly, business-wise, and NYRA president and CEO Dave O’Rourke said it is unlikely twilight racing will be conducted on Thursdays next year.
