Hamazing Destiny leads Arkansas sires

Arkansas has been one of the centers of the racing world over the past two months as Oaklawn Park hosted some of the biggest names in racing during its meeting, one of the few tracks that ran without interruption over this unprecedented winter and spring. The meet, which closed Saturday, has helped put Starfish Stallions resident Hamazing Destiny atop the Arkansas sire standings.
Hamazing Destiny, a 14-year-old Salt Lake stallion, is led in earnings this season by Destiny Way, who made five stars at this Oaklawn meeting, winning twice. That helped give Hamazing Destiny, with nine winners from 18 starters overall in 2020, a progeny bankroll of $445,171 for the season. He is easily outpacing McDowell Farm’s Double Irish, who has five winners from 12 starters for $316,681 in earnings, second in the Arkansas sire standings.
Hamazing Destiny, campaigned by Westrock Stables and Barry Butzow, made 33 starts over five seasons of racing that began with a debut win at Oaklawn in February 2009. He won or placed in eight stakes, with his biggest victory coming in the Grade 3 Maryland Sprint in 2012. Along the way, he started in three editions of the Breeders’ Cup Sprint, with his best finish a runner-up effort to Big Drama in 2010.
Hamazing Destiny was retired in the spring of 2013 and entered stud at Westrock, near Little Rock, Ark. He later moved to Starfish, near Hot Springs, which stands four other stallions for 2020 – Cyber Secret, Five Iron, Icon Ike, and Ordained.
