Halstrom takes post at Louisiana Downs
Eric Halstrom has been named vice president of operations for Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, La., according to a press release issued by the track Tuesday.
Halstrom was the vice president of racing at Canterbury Park from 1997-2008 and from there served as vice president and general manager of racing operations for Fair Grounds in New Orleans for five years. He joins Louisiana Downs from Prairie Meadows, where he has been working as assistant director of racing.
“I am looking forward to returning to Louisiana and this tremendous opportunity at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs,” Halstrom said in a press release. “There is a great team in place and very loyal horsemen as well as enthusiastic racing fans.”
Halstrom takes over from Trent McIntosh, who is now general manager of Hoosier Park, a sister track of Louisiana Downs under the umbrella of Caesars Entertainment.
Halstrom’s appointment is pending regulatory approvals.
