Halfbridled 9-5 in BC futures

Halfbridled, winner of the Del Mar Debutante, was the shortest-priced horse in the final round of the as of 5:45 p.m. Saturday. The 2-1 morning-line favorite, she was 9-5 in the wagering, preferred over the 6-1 Class Above, who romped by 16 lengths in the Kentucky Cup Juvenile Fillies. The field - all 2-year-old fillies except the 23 designated as separate betting interests - was the third choice at 10-1.

Cuvee, runaway winner of the Futurity at Belmont Park, led the Juvenile betting at 7-2. One Cool Cat, unraced in the United States but winner of two Group 1 stakes in Ireland, was 7-1, followed by the 8-1 Read the Footnotes, a Belmont allowance winner. The juvenile field was 10-1.

In Filly and Mare Turf betting, Heat Haze was 9-2 off her victory in the Beverly D. Islington, third in the Filly and Mare Turf last year, was 7-1, with Nebraska Tornado and Voodoo Dancer both 8-1. The field was 11-1.

Candy Ride, winner of the 1 1/4-mile Pacific Classic in his last race, was the slight favorite, at 5-1, in the Mile, with $151 separating him from the 6-1 Peace Rules, who was second in the Travers, also at 1 1/4 miles. Special Ring was the third choice at 8-1, with Refuse to Bend and the field both 9-1.

A total of $47,643 had been bet into the four pools at that point.

The future wager was scheduled to close at 9 p.m Eastern on Sunday.
