Half-sister to Triple Crown winner Justify born at Glenwood Farm

A half-sister to Triple Crown winner Justify was foaled early Tuesday at the father-daughter team of John and Tanya Gunther’s Glenwood Farm in Versailles, Ky.
By prominent classic sire Curlin, the filly is out of the Grade 3-placed Ghostzapper mare Stage Magic, who raced as a homebred for John Gunther. She is the dam of three winners from four starters, also including Grade 3 winner The Lieutenant. Justify, by the late Scat Daddy, won all six of his starts in 2018, highlighted by his Triple Crown sweep, to earn himself Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old honors, Gunther the Eclipse Award as outstanding breeder, and Stage Magic the prestigious Kentucky Broodmare of the Year award.

The Gunthers, who sold both Justify and The Lieutenant as Keeneland September yearlings, have indicated that they plan to retain fillies produced by Stage Magic to eventually add to their broodmare band. The family owns two colts produced by the mare, both Keeneland September buybacks, who are currently in training – One More City, a 3-year-old Will Take Charge colt, and an unnamed 2-year-old by Pioneerof the Nile.
Stage Magic will be bred back to Curlin this season.
