Half Famous survives pace battle

Michael Hammersly|Jan 01, 2007

Half Famous caused a reshuffling among the 2-year-old elite at Turf Paradise on Sunday as he beat the best juvenile males around in Sunday's $50,000 Lost in the Fog Juvenile.

Ridden by Mike Iammarino, Half Famous was involved in a three-horse battle on the lead in the 6 1/2-furlong event, then put away the other speed and drew off to win by nearly three lengths. Into the West stayed on to keep second, while Waltz Time rallied from last in the field of 10 to get third. R Big Stuff, the heavy 3-5 favorite, was part of the duel with the one-two finishers but took the worst of it, fading to fifth.

Half Famous, trained by Ruben Hernandez, paid $9.80 for the score and ran the distance in 1:16.31.
