Gulfstream on three-day schedule for three months beginning June 7

Gulfstream Park will switch to a three-day-a-week racing schedule, Friday through Sunday, for a period of three months, beginning the week of June 7, when construction starts to install a Tapeta racing surface on the outside third of the turf course. A drainage project on the inner 12 feet of the turf course will also commence at that time.
The impetus for installing the Tapeta surface is minimize scratches when races come off the turf. Those races will be run on the artificial track.
Racing has been conducted at Gulfstream Park on a four-day-a-week basis, Thursday through Sunday, since the beginning of the spring-summer meet on April 1.
The Gulfstream Park racing office said it will try to offer as many races as possible during the period of the condensed weekly schedule with that number to depend on “horsemen participation.” Five-furlong grass races will not be carded during the first two to three weeks of the upcoming projects. Two-turn turf races will not be affected other than having only one possible rail setting per week.
In addition, Gulfstream officals announced the track will now be open to the public with no age restrictions. Masks must be worn in all indoor areas, with reservations required to the Ten Palms dining area.
