Gulfstream schedules four stakes on new Tapeta track during fall meet

Four stakes races decided on the turf during the final Gulfstream Park West meet, conducted in the fall of 2020, will all be run over the newly installed Tapeta course during the upcoming Gulfstream Park fall session, which begins on Sep. 30 and continues through Nov. 21.
The first race over the Tapeta track, which has been installed over the outer section of the turf course, is scheduled to be run on Thursday, Sept. 23.

The four new Tapeta stakes include the Journeyman Stud Juvenile for 2-year-old Florida-breds on Oct. 23 and the Brethren Juvenile Fillies for 2-year-old Florida-bred fillies on Oct. 30, valued at $60,000 apiece. The other two are the Cellars Shiraz for 3-year-old fillies on Nov. 5 and the Showing Up for 3-year-olds on Nov. 6, which offer a purse of $65,000 each. All four stakes will be decided at a mile and 70 yards.
Gulfstream Park will become the first track in the country to offer racing on dirt, turf, and synthetic surfaces when the Tapeta course opens next week.
