RACE 5: PHOENIX OF WIT is dropping from allowance/optional-claiming company to this $25,000 claimer for nonwinners of three or nonwinners since Oct. 20. READY TO BATTLE ended her 2025 campaign at Woodbine on a positive note and is cheapening up for her second local outing. MOM’S MARTINI is getting some class relief for her second try off the Saffie Joseph Jr. claim, a 27 percent angle over the past five years. CHEEKIEST is making her third start off the shelf. (4) RACE 6: JOYFUL JUSTICE ran wide while closing from sixth to third when debuting in another seven-furlong maiden special. The daughter of seven-time leading sire Into Mischief is sent out by prolific second-out trainer Brad Cox. MISS COMPLICATED, who placed in each her first three outings including a graded stakes, has been freshened since a subpar showing in a key maiden special Jan. 4 at Gulfstream. FLEETING MOON isn’t bred for the grass, so one can ignore her dull second race. HORSING AROUND ran well in both of her starts on turf and is by noted dirt sire Practical Joke. ANSWERED PRAYERS is a debuting full sister to Grade 1-winning millionaire Olympiad, a second-out winner at Saratoga trained by Bill Mott. (5) RACE 7: AMERICAN POPSTAR rallied for third two back going a mile on the grass in a starter allowance, one of the better turf performances in this field. She should be prominent off a claim by Georgina Baxter. BEMBRIDGE LEDGE dropped a nose decision after leading the way most recently at Tampa. The rail being out at the speed-friendly position of 73 feet could be to her benefit. PRETTY SHY retains excellent turf rider Jorge Ruiz off a second in a similar spot following a layoff Feb. 19. His tactical speed should be an asset under a hot Edwin Gonzalez, who has impressive numbers for trainer Ron Coy. (1) RACE 9: CONTRARY is experimenting on the grass off a shockingly poor performance on dirt. The daughter of 14 percent turf sire Medaglia d’Oro is a half-sister to an allowance-winning miler on turf by dirt sire Munnings. BEING BETTY cleared the first allowance last time after a stalking journey and could trip out again near all the speed before making a threatening bid. Stakes winner MALLEYMOO and MINTY are two more possibilities in this competitive second-level allowance with a $125,000 claiming option. (4) RACE 10: WALTER ME LAD doubled in value to this $20,000 class last time off a claim and ran up front until late stretch on the Tapeta. The son of Souper Speedy likes the grass and could take some catching with the rail in the outermost position of 73 feet. BATTLE OF DOVER rarely runs a bad one and could get first run on Walter Me Lad after chasing him in a stalking position. (2) THE PLAY: 1, 2, 3, 6 / 1, 3, 4, 6, 7 / 1, 2, 4 / 3 / 2, 4, 5, 7 / 3, 9 = $96 ticket  :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
