Gulfstream Park: Ready to Act spotted for victory

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Trainer Chad Brown will have one of his top 2-year-old fillies in action in Thursday’s featured ninth race when Ready to Act makes her first start since the Breeders’ Cup going a mile on the turf under optional-claiming conditions.
Ready to Act, a daughter of More than Ready, finished sixth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf after prompting the pace through midstretch. The outing was just the third of her career and first since ducking in and losing her rider while clear on the lead near midstretch of Woodbine’s Group 2 Natalma seven weeks earlier.

“She was up against it in the Breeders’ Cup off that layoff and off a crazy race up at Woodbine,” said Brown. “I thought she ran real well considering all things. We got her right down to Florida and she’s been training well. We had her in a stakes race a couple of weeks ago, it got rained off, and it seemed like the logical thing to do to run her in a one-other-than. Hopefully she’ll be able to get back to her winning ways.”
Ready to Act will face 11 other 2-year-old fillies in a lineup that includes trainer Gary Contessa’s stakes-placed Duff One, Todd Pletcher’s undefeated Tres Hermanas, and Aventure Love, who is the only two-time winner in the field and who will make her U.S. debut for trainer Wesley Ward.
