Gulfstream Park Rainbow 6 offers mandatory payout Tuesday; pool expected to surpass $2 million

A rare midweek Rainbow 6 forceout will take place Tuesday at Gulfstream Park on a special card that marks the final day of the fiscal year in South Florida. With a carryover of $407,000, there figures to be in the neighborhood of $2 million up for grabs when the final wagers are in.
With only a nine-race card, the Rainbow 6 sequence begins early, with the fourth event, and will feature three races apiece on turf and dirt, weather permitting. Each of the grass races will be sprints, decided at five furlongs.
Fourth race
Tough to single a horse that is winless in 10 starts and has been a beaten favorite in two of her last three starts, but DINNER AT FIVE looks like the one to beat after dropping to this level and missing by a neck after encountering a brutal trip following a tardy beginning 23 days earlier. Those looking to spread might take a chance with QUEEN LETIZIA, a bit of a question mark but with some breeding for the surface, in her inner-course bow. AUNT IRENE also had traffic issues when finishing well behind the preferred choice in their previous encounter, but she is getting a potentially significant blinker change for the rematch.

Fifth race
HERO TIGER has been away since August, but his trainer, Larry Rivelli, specializes with horses returning from this type of layoff and note the two stamina-enhancing six-furlong works on his resume earlier this month. He is the class of field with one left in the tank. HERO OF THE FUTURE must improve from a numbers standpoint, but he continues to work forwardly for a barn in the midst of a strong meet. Can take another with one more forward move. SAY ADIOIS has been knocking on the door against N2L claiming types and could actually get loose on the lead with aggressive handling.
Sixth race
A weak bunch to sort out in this spot and the kind of race usually ripe for an upset. Will start with DIXIELAND HUMOR who is running well at the moment and coming off a good effort behind a 9-5 winner despite a wide trip last time on a wet track. MYSTIC COMIN HOME weakened a tad at the end to finish right behind the preferred choice returning on nine days’ rest in their previous meeting. She gets a bit of a break between starts for the rematch and cannot be left out with the right trip. TOONIE LOONIE could wire them all, if able to repeat her effort on April 26. She arguably ran against the bias in her last pair.
Seventh race
Not much rain in the forecast, but if this race does move to the main track, OURNATIONONPARADE would be tough to beat off an eventful trip in the Roar. On turf, will take just two numbers in the Rainbow 6 sequence, LEGENDARY PRINCE who has flourished since switching to turf, and speedy SEA LOVER who moves into the potent Mike Maker barn off the claim but must avoid potential pace pressure from Zaino Boyz among others.
Eighth race
Distance may be the issue, with most in here likely to struggle getting seven furlongs. PANAREA is getting ample class relief and should benefit going turf to dirt while turning back off a mile try last time. She has the speed to lead these on a merry chase if Zayas is in hustling mode from the gate. SAMMY’S TOWN could be worth a look at a price coming off a pair of turf miles of her own and with some main-track races that might be good enough in this spot. THE GOSPEL OF JOHN is a shadow of his former self, but one of these days will leave with the field, get a clean ride, and beat this caliber. Today could be that day.
Ninth race
Those still alive into the finale might need to spread in a turf sprint featuring many contenders and question marks. I’M PRAYINGFORTHAT is in red-hot hands off the claim, and her best on turf is more than good enough to beat these, although she must avoid getting hung up in a potential torrid pace scenario. COOKIE COVE comes off a career-best when able to clear early but might not have that luxury breaking from extreme outside. Must respect both IMA DAREDEVIL and POSEIDONS PRINCESS in their turf bow. Neither is particularly bred for the going, but they have plenty of speed to prove dangerous if taking to the surface.
