RACE 10: SURPRISINGLY has posted mediocre works on the dirt at Palm Beach Downs (posted on XBTV) since her neck loss to the talented Didia in the Grade 2 Pegasus World Cup Filly and Mare Turf, in which she beat future graded stakes winners Ruby Nell and Chili Flag. Grade 1 winner MCKULICK may not be cranked up for her first outing since the Nov. 4 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf, but she’s hard to ignore with Irad Ortiz Jr. back riding for good layoff trainer Chad Brown. ANATOLIAN made the board in two Grade 3 stakes at the meet and should be a factor. (3) RACE 11: WAYS AND MEANS finished a clear second behind an unbeaten rival after mounting a wide rally following some early trouble the last time she saw action in the Grade 1 Spinaway at Saratoga. The Klaravich Stables homebred put up a 90 Beyer when romping in her debut at the Spa and is bred to go the 1 1/16-mile distance of this Grade 2 event. POWER SQUEEZE took the one-mile Cash Run Stakes here Jan. 1 before a clear-cut score around two turns in the Suncoast Stakes at Tampa. She has worked extensively at Gulfstream and could have lovely inside stalking trip after breaking from the rail. (2) :: Access morning workout reports straight from the tracks and get an edge with DRF Clocker Reports RACE 12: ANGEL NADESHIKO went too fast up front last out before tiring in the Grade 3 The Very One when the 1 3/8-mile distance was too far for her. She led throughout a nine-furlong stakes at Santa Anita the time before and could wire this field under good front-running route rider John Velazquez. CAIRO CONSORT, who faded to third after making her way into contention on the far turn in the The Very One, also is better suited to middle distances. The 2022 Canadian champion 2-year-old filly retains Irad Ortiz Jr. for her fourth race off the bench. MARKETSEGMENTATION has a history of running competitively when fresh, and it will be interesting to see how ready the Grade 1 winner is for her first outing since a fourth in the Grade 1 Diana at Saratoga. INFINITE DIAMOND is a longshot possibility. (4) RACE 13: ICE CHOCOLAT ended a drought when winning his penultimate race in an allowance/optional claimer with a 96 Beyer. He raced three and four wide all the way most recently while closing for third in the Grade 3 Canadian Turf and should save some ground here in a field with ample speed before going in for the kill. RACE 14: HADES has trained encouragingly since his front-running tally in the Grade 3 Holy Bull over Domestic Product, who subsequently won the Grade 3 Tampa Bay Derby with an 84 Beyer. Hades drew a desirable inside post and should take some catching in his quest to remain unbeaten under Paco Lopez. Reigning champion 2-year-old FIERCENESS could rebound off a chalky third in the Holy Bull if he gets a trip that suits him. CONQUEST WARRIOR won his last two starts convincingly against maidens and allowance types. LE DOM BRO has worked well since giving favored Dornoch a run for his money in the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth.
