Gulfstream Park: Holy Bull next for Wildcat Red

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Trainer Jose Garafalo has confirmed that Wildcat Red will make his next start in the Grade 3 Holy Bull on Jan. 25. Wildcat Red, who broke from the rail, was narrowly defeated by General a Rod in a game effort in Wednesday’s Gulfstream Park Derby.
“He ran a hell of a race,” Garafalo said. “The best-case scenario would have been to win, but considering he’d been off two months, the post position and all the speed in the race, he did a great job, and I’m okay with it.”

Other notable 3-year-olds eyeing the 1 1/16-mile Holy Bull include Cairo Prince, Coup de Grace, Almost Famous, Mr. Speaker, and Conquest Titan, with General a Rod listed as possible for the race.
Tough turf allowance
Sunday’s card includes an open five-furlong allowance race on the turf that drew a field of 10, with Silver Menace and County Gun entered for the main track only.
Sprint to the Sky, making his first start since finishing 11th after prompting the early pace over Santa Anita’s downhill course in the Breeders’ Cup Turf, headlines a lineup that also includes the Grade 3 turf sprint winner Berlino Di Tiger, Varsity, and local horse for the course Determinato.
Berlino Di Tiger has not started since upsetting the Grade 3 Turf Sprint at Churchill Downs in May. Varsity is still seeking his first victory since capturing the Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint last winter. Determinato is perfect in three starts over the local course.
