Gulfstream Park: Hartford sidelined with minor injury

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Trainer Todd Pletcher said Thursday that his exciting debut winner Hartford is off the Triple Crown trail. Hartford, a son of Tapit owned by Stonestreet Stables, rallied to a 6 3/4-length maiden victory going seven furlongs here on Jan. 16.
“He had a little filling in his right front leg so we sent him back to Stonestreet,” said Pletcher.

Pletcher’s arsenal of talented 3-year-olds also includes In Tune, a homebred daughter of Unbridled’s Song who won for the second time in as many starts when leading throughout in a first-level allowance race going 1 1/16 miles here Thursday. Among her victims was Rosalind, the third-place finisher in the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, who finished a non-threatening third in her 3-year-old debut.
“There were some accomplished fillies in the race, so to do that in just her second start is a pretty good accomplishment,” said Pletcher. “I think we’ll go to a stakes next. I’ll just have to figure out which one.”
In Tune was one of four winners on Thursday’s card for jockey Javier Castellano, who also won six races last Saturday. Castellano has opened a commanding advantage in quest of his third consecutive local riding title.
