Gulfstream Park: Golden Ticket unlikely for Donn

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Trainer Ken McPeek said Travers winner Golden Ticket, who turned in a big effort launching his 2013 campaign with an easy 5 1/4-length optional claiming victory on Saturday, has been nominated to the Grade 1 Donn Handicap on Feb. 9 but is not likely to run.

“He came out of this race real good, but more than likely we won’t bring him back in the Donn. I think it would be asking too much too quickly of him,” said McPeek. “There’s not a lot of options for him here this winter. I don’t want to turn him back to a mile for the Gulfstream Park Handicap. I’d like to run him back in a Grade 3. I’ll nominate him to the Mineshaft at the Fair Grounds and probably take him there next.”
