Gulfstream Park cancels Saturday and Sunday racing due to tropical storm
Gulfstream Park has canceled racing for Saturday and Sunday because of heavy rains brought about by a tropical storm system in South Florida, the track announced.
South Florida was under a tropical storm warning Saturday morning, according to the press release. Gulfstream remained open for simulcasting and casino operations.
Lone Star Park near Dallas was forced to cancel after the first race Friday night due to lightning in the area, according to a spokesperson for the track. Horses were in the paddock for the second race as a storm system continued to remain in the area and the decision was made to call off the card.
Lone Star is scheduled to race Saturday.
