Gulfstream: Opening-day handle solid
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – The opening-day program on Saturday at Gulfstream Park consisted of 11 races, one more than in 2014, but rainy weather resulted in four of the five scheduled turf races having to be moved to the main track.
“We had big fields and tremendous participation from the horsemen, and we’re extremely pleased with the success of Saturday’s Claiming Crown,” said P.J. Campo, Gulfstream Park general manager and vice president of racing for the Stronach Group, which operates the track. “We’re confident the numbers would have been even more impressive with a fast track and firm turf course.”
