Gulfstream: Lead Singer, Change of Command top full field
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Lead Singer and Change of Command will top a full field scheduled to go 7 1/2 furlongs on the Gulfstream Park turf in Wednesday’s optional-claiming feature, which carries a $41,000 purse. Lead Singer had his modest two-race win streak snapped in his last start, which came at the Meadowlands, while Change of Command has been freshened since defeating similar optional-claiming types at Monmouth Park on Sept. 6.
Other key contenders, assuming the race goes as scheduled on the grass, include Concert Stage, Speightstown Time, and Canadian invader Seventhfleethumor. Jersey Blues and Tiger of Wales would likely prove beneficiaries should rain force the race to be switched to the main track.
DRF FORMULATOR FACT: No. 5 Jersey Blues. Trainer John Mazza is 17-5-4-3 with a $7.67 ROI over the past five years with last-out winners. Click for more details. – Mike Hogan
