HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Dullahan, currently among the top 10 3-year-olds in this week’s Derby Watch, remains on target to have his final Kentucky Derby prep in the Grade 1 Blue Grass at Keeneland on April 14 despite missing several days of training due to a splint injury. “He popped a splint, he missed some training, but he’s doing fine now,” said trainer Dale Romans while watching Dullahan gallop over a muddy track at Gulfstream Park on Wednesday. “And he sure looks good to me out there this morning.” Dullahan, who also missed some training earlier this winter due to a cough, has started just once at 3, finishing a wide-running second behind Howe Great over the turf in the Grade 3 Palm Beach here on March 11. Dullahan won the Grade 1 Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland before concluding his 2-year-old campaign finishing a solid fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. “The plan right now is for him to breeze once before he leaves here,” said Romans. “When that will be has yet to be determined. He could also have a second work in Kentucky before the Blue Grass.”
