Spot PlayINDY’S ILLUSION (#5, 12-1): As kind of a shot in the dark (and whaddya want for 12-1), Barclay Tagg lets this (as yet) underachiever try a turf marathon, and the results could be interesting. Derby-winning trainer has decent stats in the relevant categories, and he’s always a danger with grass types. Looking for this A.P Indy colt to show more speed than usual on the stretchout and perhaps go a long way with the front brigade. – Marty McGee

Spot PlayDISTORTED MUSIC (#6, 5-2): Daughter of the standout sire Distorted Humor absolutely blitzed a solid group of MSW fillies at the end of the CD meet and is first-on-line for a repeat on the requisite raise to this 1x level. Figures to get a nice stalk-and-see trip for the ever-capable Lezcano in a race with speed aplenty; ChiTown barn is top-notch. Bigger things might well be in store for this late-blooming type. – Marty McGee

Spot PlayCANDY KITTY (#1, 4-1) romped in the off-the-turf Wait a While Stakes, but is just as skilled as a turf performer; she won a maiden race going long on the grass at Saratoga over the summer; in a position to save ground in a deep field, and therefore likely to get a better trip than others. – Byron King
Vulnerable FavoriteSTONETASTIC (#9, 3-1) disappointed with a mediocre finish to be third after enjoying a trouble-free trip in the Golden Rod; yet to race on turf, and will be overbet off a fast turf work at Palm Meadows – Byron King
