Race 5

Spot Play

SWEEPIN ROMANCE(#3, 4-1) is dropped in class following a third in a sprint against classier starter/optional claimers; has an even-paced style that looks well suited to the stretch out from sprints to a one-turn mile; chilly connections will boost his price. – Byron King

Vulnerable Favorite

SEA OF FACES (#2, 5-2) won easily for maiden $25,000 last out going this mile distance, but looked like claim bait that day, and was indeed taken at the claims box; goes from trainer Todd Pletcher to Antonio Sano and could regress with barn switch. – Byron King

Race 7

Spot Play

AY NO DIGAS (#2, 4-1): Typical regrouping effort by Motion and his outstanding crews in both Md. and SoFla should have this German-bred prepared to put her best foot forward after that disappointing stateside debut as the fave for Clement in a tough MSW turfer at Belmont. Trainer has excellent stats in all the relevant categories, as you might well expect; comes favorably drawn toward the hedge in order to get the right kind of ground-saving stalking trip that may be required for redemption here; tote likely to yield clues as to how live she is again. – Marty McGee

Race 8

Spot Play

ON HIGH ALERT (#1, 6-1): Four nice Palm Meadows drills surely have put this girl on her toes, and little doubt she’ll be more forwardly placed than usual for a Wilkes runner given the nearly 10-week layoff and stretchout from 7 panels. Enlists Leparoux for one of those patient rides that will be required to defeat this solid 1x crew; nicely bred Medaglia d’Oro filly still looking to reprise that eye-catching ElP debut; circumstances might just allow her to do so today. – Marty McGee

Race 10

Spot Play

SUMBA SUNSET (#8, 5-1) actually made up a little ground in that debut despite an "impossibly" slow half mile; sharp work since. -Kenny Peck
