Race 1 |
Spot PlayON PAROLE (#4, 5-1) returns to sprinting on the main track and that may be what she prefers; seems to land in a good spot here, as she could well be the primary speed in this fairly paceless opener. -Kenny Peck

Vulnerable FavoriteAnyone else find it just a little bit curious that Clement hasn’t yet opted to try this Fla-bred on the grass? Yes, ORATION (#8, 9-5) was pretty good in his first-and-only when getting that field-high 81 Beyer, and he does come favorably drawn from the outer when having benefit of last, but isn’t it entirely possible he might get caught in a tough spot chasing Yes That’s Me and a fresh Pomeroy’s Package for a sustained period, perhaps setting things up for something like turf-to-dirt Gibson’s Bullet or the TAP firster, Simon Bar Sinister? Just not convinced Oration deserves the low odds he figures to be. – Marty McGee Closer Looks >> |

Spot PlayIT’S A GREAT LIFE (#2, 3-1): Bargain-basement yearling came out running at Tampa and was very unlucky not only to be DQ’d, but also that he didn’t win, period. Now moves to the grass while certainly not overwhelmed by the competition on the raise into MSW company and shifting sites for DiVito, whose specialty is youngsters just like this. Elvis has been on his game lately and figures to have this one in a prime spot once the real running begins. – Marty McGee

Spot PlayEMMABELLLE (#5, 10-1): lone grass start was in debut last autumn over the tricky Kentucky Downs turf course in key race; she earned a competitive figure in that effort and any improvement puts her in the mix at double digit odds. - Chuck Kuehhas

Spot PlayTARGET SIGHTED (#2, 4-1): Take a long gaze at the 3-back victory by this 8yo in $16k beaten company in his Gulf return and it might be very similar to what he’s primed to do again today. Jessie slaps some blinkers on him so as to get him to refocus after he was simply overmatched in tougher heats; comes very well-drawn near the hedge, from where Rocco will conserve all he can before urging this dude home. – Marty McGee
