Race 2 Gibson's Bullet Beaten favorite has run well each time on the turf and his sire was a graded stakes winner on the main; draws an inside post for a change and may be able to handle this surface and distance transition in a positive way.   Simon Bar Sinister Newcomer has been breezing in steady fashion and was sired by War Front, winner of 424K (his offspring have won their debut at a rate of 10 percent); the dam was zero for 5; sib to 120K bankroller Tizmas; expert connections at the helm.   Columbia County Very fine half-mile breeze turned in recently over the deep Payson strip; the gelding's sire won a G2 and 998K; progeny of Congrats have won 25 out of 210 initial starts); the dam lost her only attempt; winning siblings include 81K earner Tinkerbucks.   My Uncle Charlie Suffered through a difficult trip in his last try over the lawn; the latest half-mile breeze was a distinct upgrade; has matured since the first 2 starts of his career where he did not break alertly; should offer fair market value today.   Yes That's Me Cooked in a speed duel in his maiden voyage last month, he faded in mid-stretch; the colt's sire won a G3 and 586K; the dam won 2 of 4 and 20K; among the winning siblings is 80K earner Lissekan Castle.   Pomeroy's Package Respectable showing in his first run last year at Monmouth when facing a repeat winner; his sire won 7 of 18 and 845K; the dam won 1 of 2 and 25K; winning siblings include 229K earner Don's Honor; encouraged by the gate breeze of a week ago.   Derivativecontract Deceptive first run where he lost significant ground after a slow getaway; his sire won a G2 and 562K; the dam scored in 1 of 8 appearances earning 24K; winning siblings include 62K earner Two and Twenty; worth some follow-up.   Oration A game, clear-cut second in his first try over this course; his sire won the G1 Donn Handicap and 1.13 million; the dam involved was unraced; among the winning siblings is 154K earner Indian Gracey; deserves respect despite the shorter price and outside slot. - Jim Kachulis Race 4 Rapacious He boasts the best last race Beyer Speed Figure in here and that level of performance isn't even the ceiling for him; his lack of early speed is a concern, but this has to be considered a very nice spot for him to make his first start for new connections after being claimed for 16k.   Desert Strike This gelding has plenty of turf in his pedigree, but he's also had a few chances to show us what he can do racing over turf, and he's going to need to improve over what he's shown so far in order to get the better of the top contenders in this one.   John Gordon Sire wins with approximately 15% of his turf starters and dam was winless from five starts, including a start over turf; he brings some early speed with him and this looks like a decent spot to find out what he's capable of racing over turf; this is a barn and rider that win their share of races together.   Start Up It's interesting to see that he's run pretty well in his two most recent starts when considering that he's found himself in the unusual position of racing from off the pace, and he was bet to favoritism against today's rival Rapacious in his latest start; perhaps he'll show more early speed this time around and turn the tables on that rival after benefiting from a tactical advantage.   McIlroy He really hasn't run a bad race to date, and after needing seven starts to get to his first win, his connections pick out a realistic assignment for his first attempt against winners; he has a live look to him while going out for a top turf barn and rider.   Takepointsandrun This will be his first attempt over the Gulfstream Park turf course but like to see what he's done in three of his four starts since adding blinkers and he appears to be capable of producing a competitive performance against competition of this caliber.   Matisse A couple of horses in the main body of this race have shown the ability to run well over dirt, so even though this gelding will have the look of a contender if he gets to go in this spot, he's going to have to earn it. - Brian Pochman Race 5 Rhythm Blues Graduated going long at Parx before heading south; his local debut at this level was awful, although he did get bumped at the break; nicely-bred son of Tale of the Cat has dropped Woodbine stakes winners Like a Gem and Win and Reign; might ultimately find his calling on turf or synthetics.   Joh's Gone Wild Chestnut is shedding the blinkers off a subpar showing in a seven-furlong sprint at this class; Paco was aboard when he won back-to-back six-furlong dashes earlier in the meet, and should have him forwardly placed on the stretchout; sire was a G1 winner going long, and the unraced dam has produced a route winner; can go coast-to-coast.   Sea of Faces Expensive purchase was beaten in double digits in each of his last two excursions, including in a one-mile stakes at Calder earlier this month; the tough N1X in which he finished up the track Feb. 22 contained several Kentucky Derby prospects; note that leading rider Castellano was up for both of his victories.   Talon's of Tuscany Stalked a rapid pace before taking control en route to a hard-fought debut score going five and a half furlongs Feb. 12; son of Arch and a Carson City mare has a blend of speed and stamina in his family tree; Romans hit with 30% of his second-timers stretching out who won at first asking over the past five years ($2.77 ROI).   Solemnly Swear Earned the highest Beyer in this field (83) Feb. 22, when seventh in a fast allowance which was dominated by Kentucky Derby prospects Constitution and Tonalist; has been struggling against some quality opposition, but this is the easiest field that he's faced since breaking his maiden at Monmouth; the hot bug Davis is 0 for 2 at the meet for this barn. - Ron Gierkink Race 6 Ulanbator Turns back off a weak try in his route debut and now he'll go back to a pilot who knows him well colt wasn't disgraced in either of his first 2 starts at one turn against next out winners and he's returned from his last to work quite well; he does tackle older foes here but wouldn't be surprised to see him improve enough to arrive on the scene late and factor for a share.   Classy Kid Didn't take much money when well up the track first out here a few weeks back and now he'll lure Castellano; 4 year old can go better with the initial experience behind him and the dam was a G3 SW turf router who did drop a main track winner so maybe the added panel helps, but the barn has been on a poor run with its recent stretchouts.   Alexndeed Ran into a next out repeater when unveiled at a sprint trip here last month; West Virginia bred goes for a barn whose runners improve with racing and they hit at a nice clip with their stretchouts; dam's 6 other foals to race are all winners including G2 SW turf router and 425K earner War Dancer; added ground should help and this guy will get a weight concession with the low percentage bug named.   Argyle Pricey newcomer is by a sire who gets about 13% first out winners from his offspring and the dam was off the board in 3 turf starts prior to dropping 2 winners including G3 SW router and 300K earner Hightap; barn hasn't done so well of late right out of the box, but this guy did show some speed in his most recent drill for this.   Mr. Besilu Five year old comes from the same family as Zenyatta and they paid over 4 million for him at auction several years back but he's yet to run particularly fast in 5 lifetime starts; his career best number did come at the local trip early last month and maybe the turf effort provided him with some conditioning for the return to this type of footing; he may never reach the lofty expectations they had for him but his best effort does put him right in the thick of this maiden heat; contender.   Malibu Master Stretches out off another off the board finish in his first start since Saratoga; nice to see Lezcano stick with him and his dam did drop a SW router in 149K earner Lecturing Lynn so maybe the stretchout helps at what figures to be a nice price.   Successful Runner He's hit the board in each of his 4 career sprint starts and now he'll tackle some added ground; outside drawn colt has the early foot to secure a good tracking spot early and he'll switch back to a pilot who boasts excellent numbers for this barn; dam's 2 wins came going long and she did drop a route winner; may prove to be the one they'll have to beat. - Steve Grabowski Race 7 Five Star Dixie Sire is 14-for-132 with 1st-turf starters; dam went 2-0-0-0 on grass; some-turf pedigree here as 2 of her 3 foals to race on the lawn are green winners including 94K-turf earner Babes Bridge (5-for-13 grass); exits a best-last-race Beyer speed figure completing the dirt exacta in the 2nd start following an 81-day absence; fits well here as her 2 other maiden-claming starts are both in-the-money finishes; contender.   Starship O. E. M. Like Five Star Dixie today marks the shortest-distance test of her career while also in with her lightest-weight assignment ever; produced three 6th-place finishes in 3 races with 45 days or longer between starts which does not bode well for this racing off another layoff; his best turf Beyer was January, 2013, traveling 8.5F when defeated by the winner who repeated in a 30K claimer with a 79 speed figure.   Margarita Island Faded in both grass starts seeking her 1st non-double digit length defeat during career; outsider for a new trainer who is 0-for-10 since 2013 first-time out with newly-acquired runners; the improvement needed does not seem like it is forthcoming for this.   Amber Morning She has never raced this short of a distance during career; the 2-back winner where troubled posted a 69 speed figure in a next-out GP-16K-claiming win; her field-best Beyer was posted at 1 Mile on grass; 4 of the 5 turf races Monday at GP were won by runners within 1.5 lengths of the lead at the 1st call so her late-running style does not fit as well.over today's GP turf course.   Miss Livona Massive-barn switch off the 83-day absence; projects as the one to catch but likely has Sweet Butterfly breathing down her neck from the bell; runners forwardly placed won 4 of the 5 turf races here Sunday and you won't get a much hotter jockey-trainer combo at GP than Castellano-Maker; try to catch the pick.   Sweet Butterfly Best scenario might be to sit just off the speedy Miss Livona from the gate then get 1st run on the closers; looms a pace presence either way on a speed-favoring GP grass course; best news is her GP exacta finish came off a similar long layoff; the one to beat.   Lady Joyfull Connections shot high with her in last returning to the exacta-claiming level for this; reunites with the 2-back rider when racing at 3.5F longer on the green; in her only 5F grass race she was outrun throughout and seems better suited to compete in routes.   Scat Daddys Breeze Has a lot to prove following a career-low Beyer speed figure; was bet hard in Canada in starts 2 and 3 so somebody thought she had ability on that synthetic surface; sire is 18-for-123 with 1st-turf starters; dam went 2-0-0-0 on grass; her only other foal to race full Kiss the Daddy (2-for-14, 123K) did not race on turf. - Brian Pochman Race 8 Russian Greek Goes back to blinkers after failing to show much fire over the turf last month; has spent the majority of his career in routes, including more than one graded stakes appearance; this appears to be a stepping stone towards a 2-turn assignment in the near future.   Catholic Cowboy Racing exclusively at 7 furlongs since last summer, he broke maiden in style 2 back before encountering a sloppy track in his first allowance test; switches to apprentice handling here and will have to get into gear much sooner than normal; needs Closerwalk to set a blinding pace.   On the Loose Again Although off the board in his last test, it was an exceptionally fast race where he lost much ground; has strong late kick when right and when the early fractions are intense; has carried this weight and more to victory in the past and should be an important late factor today.   Closerwalk Owns a very fine first gear but he ran out of steam when negotiating seven-eighths last month; needs to get away unpressured and slow down the fractions as much as possible; must avoid being pestered by Dad'z Laugh before the turn for home.   Dad'z Laugh More than likely, this is the colt who will make first run on the presumed pacesetter to his left; was brave in defeat in the last pair (both races were way above average in pace and final time) but does have a distinct streak of seconditis in his nature; obvious exacta player.   Ravelo's Boy Raced only twice in the last 2 seasons and it remains unclear if he will ever recapture the performance levels of 2012; goes back to the handling of Lopez who has a fine record for these connections but still believe a wait and see betting approach is the way to go.   Declan's Warrior Met some top-notch sprinters last summer at Saratoga and was given a long rest; the most recent half-mile breeze suggests he is ready to fire and both of his local attempts last year were solid; reverts to Lezcano who has been aboard since day one; respect.   Border Song (FR) Unlucky grey rallied belatedly to capture the place last month but that was an optional claiming group and this field is comprised of several back classy types; not sure he can handle the escalation, but he has been a steady check earner since arriving from France; clean getaway is needed. - Jim Kachulis Race 9 Imperial Robyn Since the cut back in the second start of the year, this veteran has been solid; fits in the Beyer department; he's consistent and with slight improvement, should be around the wire once again.   Songa Songandaprayer about 6% with first-time turfers after 340 starters; sire was unbeaten in 2 starts at 2, took a Grade 1, never turfed; dam was unraced; the half bro that won earned over $100K, lost only turf out; looking at more pace this time, needs very best.   Texas Rustler Fully extended in the opener this year but he can back to earth in a thud in the local debut; he could have sulked after being the pinball of the machine but he kept to his task in a decent effort; the show horse in last won next out at this very level with an 88 Beyer; it could be a new ballgame with a clear trip.   Boltin' Out Decent try when wide two back, connections thought enough of him to try the stakes last time but he caught sizzling splits; 12/28 winner repeated in a $16K starter handicap, lost next pair; probably from off the pace if at all.   Mish Mosh Must prove it on grass but he has a penchant for finding the wire; place horse in the last win cashed next out at this level with a 97 Beyer; should be rolling along early but he did break his maiden from off the pace when getting an ideal 3-hole trip; decent move on the 4th, can't fault those that give him another shot after flop as chalk.   Tango On Stonesider 0 for 29 with first-time turfers; sire won only start in his juvenile debut in a MSW at Belmont with a 81 Beyer cashing by a head in a dirt sprint; dam 0 for 4; both siblings won, top kin Littlebitwicked cashed on grass the first time she tasted the stuff; not sure he was beating anybody in the maiden breaker; the place horse that day has lost twice since.   Stormy Rush Proven in this league, runner has tactical speed and was inching toward the winner in the local debut; pushed along early on a sizzling pace, he may be better served settling, saving a bit of ground and kicking; right there with the A game. - Brian Mulligan Race 10 Guigue's Miracle Maybe her best race is strong enough to get her into the mix against these, but it's tough to push a 16-race maiden like this for the top spot, and nine of those starts have been over turf; feel that a minor award is likely the ceiling.   Monjablanca She brings some early speed with her and she earned a career best Beyer Speed Figure while making her first start for this barn in her latest outing; she's put together respectable performances the last two times she's been in against maiden competition.   Sofialeonor She hasn't been the most consistent performer but a couple of her turf starts have been on the level of what it will take to win this; she's another in here who has hung around the maiden ranks for a while, but at the very least, she merits consideration underneath in the exotics.   Billie Skirts She hasn't finished better than fourth or within 11 lengths of the winner in her first four starts, and she probably prefers distances shorter than today's one mile assignment; viewing her as being an early pace factor only.   Double Interest She's another who might find herself involved in the running through the opening stages, but from six starts, including a start over turf, she's yet to run a race that is anywhere near strong enough to get the job done against these.   Alguna She's another in here who has had her chances to clear the maiden hurdle and that makes it difficult to place confidence in her for the top spot; however, she's clearly fast enough to run with these and perhaps the addition of blinkers can help her along.   Nobody's a Saint She's going to have to improve over what she's shown in her first three attempts in order to have a say in the outcome and she tired badly in her first attempt at today's distance in her latest outing; winner from latest returned to win next out here on 3/9 going 1 1/16m over turf vs. 16k MCL's with a 64 Beyer.   Skayana Sire wins with approximately 6% of his first-time starters and with approximately 8% of his turf starters, and this is the first foal from a dam who won 2 of 15 turf starts for 52k; she's making her belated career debut, but a few of her workouts hint at ability, and this isn't a bad spot to show up with a firster.   Kikiy's Toni If you only focus on what she's done in her three turf attempts, she's not out of the question against these, and the third-place finisher from her latest race returned to win next out here on 3/14 going 1m over turf vs. 16k MCL's with a 59 Beyer.   Ah Honey Honey She's eligible to be ready for better at second asking and like to see her connections taking an aggressive drop in class with her; she adds blinkers for this and a few of her workouts since her career debut look solid.   Aunty Pearl Educated in the debut but she raced solidly in the big field last time; 2 for 27 dam banked nearly $190K, was 2nd in best turf moment; this is her first to race; miss has every right to improve with a pair under the girth. - Brian Pochman
