Gulfstream: Closer Looks for March 15, 2014

DRF Staff|Mar 14, 2014

Race 1

Santa Mia
Offered little in her first 2 starts with better and now she'll move to the fence; dam did drop a handful of winners including one who took 8 sprints and banked 128K so there is some talent in the family and maybe the draw helps her get more involved early against this weak bunch.
This Quay Home
Sire gets about 8% first out winners from his offspring and the SP dam was a 5 time winner (3 sprints) and 135K earner who won first time out prior to dropping 2 foals who were a combined 0 for 38 on the track; worktab is steady and the barn does boast some recent luck with this type.
Gussie Up
Lost her best shot at the break first time out after taking some tote support; filly has been on the track in the interim and each of her sibs to race boasts a 6 figure bankroll including SP, 11 time winner (4 sprints) and 268K earner Wilentz; barn's had a rough go of things here, but expecting better from this one today.
Rachel's Ticket
Adds the hood for the cut back to sprinting after another weak try at the level; new bug pilot will get her the weight concession, but off what she's shown thus far that doesn't figure to help her all that much; just watching this big longshot.
Our Tigress
Wasn't much of a threat in either of her sprint starts at the stand and now she'll return from the freshening after spending the interim training at Palm Meadows; barn does well with its returnees and this filly is kin to 6 sprint winners including SP, 270K earner Sleek John; still, even in here she'll need to take a good step forward off what she's shown.
Spirited Flight
Gets Lasix for the first time after being freshened a bit off the second out fade; barn does well with its runners off this type of break and this gal did show a nice turn of foot first time out; wouldn't be surprised to see her offer more against this weak bunch; consider.
Felicidades
She's had 10 cracks without any luck, but she has earned several minor awards and owns back numbers that would crush these; she hasn't been very good since taken by this outfit, however, and she was sent off at nearly 20-1 when last in for the price at this trip; capable pilot gets aboard and this is not a very tough field, so she can't be dismissed.
Swing Street Lady
Sire gets 12% first out winners from his offspring and this gal is the first foal to race out of a limited route winning dam; barn hasn't had much recent luck right out of the box and the limited worktab doesn't appear to be anything special; tote support would upgrade the opinion.
Hot Cotton
Outside drawn filly returns to the level of her sharp debut placing after failing to get on track against better in the slop off this outfit's claim; she's get shades which should help her get move involved from the outset and she catches a pretty soft bunch here; dry strip may be all she needs to bounce back and lead them home; one to beat. - Steve Grabowski

Race 3

Pink Poppy
Sire wins with approximately 7% of his first-time starters and with approximately 11% of his turf starters, and dam was winless from one start, and it wasn't a turf start; this filly is a full to G1 stakes placed Liquidity (2-12, 240k, including 0-for-1 over turf) and a 1/2 to Constrictor (1-8, 37k over turf).
Hot and Spicy
Sire wins with approximately 17% of his first-time starters and with approximately 12% of his turf starters, and dam won 2 of 16 starts for 103k, including 2 of 11 turf starts for 94k; this miss is a 1/2 to multiple stakes winner Hollinger (5-27, 712k, including 2 of 20 turf starts for 454k).
Engaginglee
Sire wins with approximately 10% of his turf starters and dam won 15 of 60 starts for 153k, including 1 of 2 turf starts for 5k; this filly is a 1/2 to March Reward (1-9, 61k over turf); runner up from debut won next out here on 3/2 going 6f vs. MSW rivals with an 88 Beyer.
The Careless Cat
She's stretching out in distance, but she's looked very good in her first two starts and she's out of a multiple graded stakes winning dam who won 9 of 26 starts for 325k, including 3 of 13 turf starts for 214k, and this miss is a 1/2 to G3 stakes placed Who's Cozy (2-7, 84k over turf).
My Fashion
Sire wins with approximately 14% of his first-time starters and with approximately 12% of his turf starters, and dam won 2 of 13 starts for 36k, including 0-for-1 over turf; this filly is a 1/2 to G3 winner Cashel Castle (5-11, 239k, including 0-for-1 over turf).
Lady Lavery
Sire wins with approximately 15% of his first-time starters and with approximately 13% of his turf starters, and dam won once from 10 starts for 86k, including 1 of 7 turf starts for 65k; this miss is a 1/2 to multiple stakes placed Brushed Gold (3-11, 111k over turf) and multiple graded stakes winner Skylighter (4-17, 489k, including 0-for-3 over turf); Saez has won with 8 of 30 (27%) mounts for this barn at the current meeting.
Lady Marian
Sire wins with approximately 13% of his turf starters and dam won once from nine starts for 31k, including 0-for-4 over turf; she's going to need to be ready to take her game to another level in her turf debut in order to have a say in the outcome.
Secret Someone
Sire wins with approximately 14% of his turf starters and stakes winning dam won 5 of 19 starts for 212k, and she didn't make a turf start; this filly is a full to multiple stakes placed Profetiza (2-9, 119k, including 0-for-2 over turf).
Imperial Ice
Sire wins with approximately 11% of his first-time starters and with approximately 13% of his turf starters, and this is the first foal form a stakes palced dam who won 4 of 17 starts for 152k, including 0-for-3 over turf; Dizney-homebred appears to be in tough for her career debut.
Private Jet
Sire wins with approximately 15% of his first-time starters and with approximately 15% of his turf starters, and dam won 2 of 7 starts for 18k, including 0-for-2 over turf; this filly is a 1/2 to multiple graded stakes winner Kensei (5-18, 751k, no turf starts) and multiple G1 winner Lookin at Lucky (9-13, $3.3 million, no turf starts).
Lady Empress
Sire wins with approximately 11% of his first-time starters and with approximately 13% of his turf starters, and multiple graded stakes winning dam won 5 of 14 turf starts for 326k; this filly is a 1/2 to stakes placed Leonetti (3-7, 109k over turf) and Swirls (2-2, 33k, including 1-for-1 over turf for 18k). - Brian Pochman

Race 4

Rhapsody in Blue
Sire is 42-for-336 with 1st-turf starters; she is out of a 1-for-6 grass dam (44K); her only other foal to race is 1-0-0-0 turfer Beaufort Sea; probably wouldn't mind seeing a race off the layoff but had to like that the connections went right to stakes co. off the maiden breaker; the runner-up finisher from last posted an 81 Beyer speed figure in her next-out WO-125K stakes win; will be taking a wait and see approach.
Sea Queen
Have to love that she can race on the lead or rate from off the speed like in her 1ster win; latest was a 1st-time Lasix 2nd-time out improvement when just missing posting a best-last-race Beyer speed figure; in her career-debut win she bested the show finisher who Beyered 74 in a next-out SAR-MSW graduation; the one to catch and beat.
Baroness Rose
Could work out an ideal trip stalking a possible Sea Queen-Resistivity speed duel; Castellano continues to sizzle at the current-GP meet and had other options here while the trainer is red hot too posting a superb 26% winners with similar-long layoff runners; gets the major class test with winners for the 1st time but hard to leave this jockey-trainer combo off any tickets.
Frazier's Pegasus
Maiden-claiming debut winner on synthetic with much to prove on grass and with winners; caught wet turf in latest she did not race poorly in defeat but finished evenly now the layoff to consider; the worktab does not impress while the new rider is 0-for-11 at GP for the trainer since 2013; backing others.
Resistivity
Sire is 3-for-39 with 1st-turf starters; dam went unraced producing 3 foals to turf (0-for-7 combined on grass); field-best Beyer speed figure was posted at 7F on dirt today is the longest-distance test of her career; projects to battle Sea Queen for the lead here as both runners hope to hold off the closers.
Super Fantasy
The show finisher from took a Grade 3 stakes next out with an 87 Beyer; the 2-back-runnerup finisher won next out with an 80 Beyer; today is the longest layoff of her career following a last-place stakes finish; she should appreciate the class relief for this; 1 Mile on GP firm turf is a career-best Beyer and a good sign that she's also won on a wet-grass course before.
Fingers Crossed
1st Lasix is a 32%-win angle for her trainer; the barn also does well off medium-sized layoffs but she did not fire off the bench in last when defeated by the runner-up finisher who Beyered 83 in a next-out GP-100K stakes victory; wish the worktab sparkled more.
Patsy's Holiday
Massive-class leap while some of the others are exiting stakes or faced next-out graded-stakes winners in their recent starts; 1st start with Pletcher was a victory but the win rider landing on Baroness Rose clearly does not help the confidence level that a repeat is on the way.
Zinzay
Defeated the show, 4th and 10th-place finishers from last; they Beyered 90-81-74 in next-out GP-SA-100K stakes wins; beat the debut runner-up finisher who Beyered 78 in her next-out BEL-MSW win; wish the trainer yielded better than 11%-fresh winners since 2013 because this one has plenty of upside; 1st Lasix a 33%-win angle for her trainer.
Wicked Temper
Exits a career-low Beyer when post 12 was not her friend vs. Sea Queen and the same type of wide-ground losing trip is expected for this; reunites with the win rider while her synthetic-surface career debut saw the runner-up finisher graduate next out with a 70 Beyer; would be a surprise. - Art Gropper

Race 5

Harbor the Dream
Hung wide from marooned slot to kick it off and she showed some interest late in last; stakes placed 3 for 16 dam earned over $100K; backers can point to the fact there is nothing but winners in the family and one banked nearly $50K; she is improving.
Signora Gina
Pushed along when maybe just dead short in the debut; 13 for 29 dam banked $110K; 2 of 3 siblings won; both earned at least $145K with 16 wins together; fresh and very dangerous.
Sushan
She flashed talent rallying between horses; dam out of the money in only out; both sibs won including Thisonesforruthie, who took 7 of 33, banked over $150K; backers wouldn't mind seeing a speed duel and for this gal to get a lane to rally into late.
Money Game
Miss can be her own worst enemy with no speed; connections wouldn't mind if she starts acting like the top kin that banked over $140 in a long career; another slice?
Second Base
Rock Hard Ten has hit with about 13% of his firsters in a 261-horse study; sire didn't run at 2, took soph debut at SA with a 101 Beyer, won multiple Grade 1s, banked over $1.8 million; dam was unraced; lone full sis to race Rock Show took 3 of 17, earned $66K; she does look fit enough.
Distinct Diva
Needs to hustle as she is facing some familiar rivals; SW 4 for 7 dam earned over $240K; 2 of 3 siblings won; top kin Mazengah took 5 of 20, banked $175K; must show more.
Language of Love
Langfuhr has hit with about 10% of his firsters in a 868-horse study; sire didn't run at 2, won debut at Woodbine, took a G1, earned almost 700 grand; dam was unraced; all 3 siblings won including SP near $200K player Glamour N Glory; like this work pattern.
Delantera
Bernstein about 11% with debuters in a 471-runner grid; sire earned about $175K, raced exclusively on grass; G2 placed 1 for 13 dam earned over $100K; the 3 siblings to race are a combined 0 for 24; homebred could need one.
Discreetly Elusive
Youngster has flashed a decent turn of late foot; 1 for 9 dam cashed on grass; this is her first to race; due to knock down the door; respect.
Candy's Lady
Never thrilled to see runners in this league after multiple beats for a tag; at least the lone sibling did win twice; could need softer to show top stuff. - Brian Mulligan

Race 6

Thor's Mjolnor
This barn has put a lot of live horses on the track at this meeting and it looks like they have this 5-year-old heading in the right direction as he gets ready to make his third start of 2014; he'll need his sharpest performance to date to beat these, but he should be forwardly placed early on and he won't have to worry about ground loss.
Transcend
Relatively lightly raced 5-year-old has been on top of his game lately, and it's worth noting how well he ran over this turf course at today's distance when chasing Lochte to the finish two back; he looks like he has enough early speed to get involved in the running early on and there is a chance that the early pace won't heat up all that much.
Chairman Garey
He's another in here who has been at his best in recent starts, but he was beaten by today's rival Transcend just two starts back, and he is stepping up in class after facing 50-40k N2L claimers in his latest outing; third-place finisher from latest won next out here on 3/5 going 1 1/16m over turf vs. 50-40k claimers with an 82 Beyer.
Hurricane Elvis
He put together a nice performance in his first start back from a layoff when coming up just a little bit short at over 17-1 two races ago, but that level of performance hasn't been the norm for him, and this looks like a tough group that he's meeting up with.
Red Vine
The next time this colt gives a bad account of himself will be the first time and he shows up for a top turf barn that is more than capable of having one ready to run well fresh; interesting to see John V. get the call for this.
Twigazuri Strait
He's proven that he can outrun his odds from time-to-time and he might be ready to give a good account of himself while making his second start back from a layoff; feel that he is facing a tough test today, but his best effort can get him into the mix against these.
One Golden Road
He might need to produce a career best effort to beat the top contenders in here, but he shows up for Ramsey and Maker, and Castellano has won with 25 of 61 (41%) mounts for this barn at the current meeting; winner from latest won next out here on 2/9 going 1 1/8m in a G1 with a 99 Beyer, and third-place finisher won next out here on 3/8 going 7 1/2f over turf vs. 25k OPC's with an 89 Beyer.
Bay King
He has shown a little bit of ability, and he is making his first start since July of his 3-year-old season, but this has to be considered a tough spot for his first start as a 4-year-old; winner from latest won next out at Wo on 8/16 going 1m over turf vs. N3L alw. rivals with an 83 Beyer.
China Holiday
Simply feel that this is a very tough spot for him to be seeking his first turf victory, and the only win of his career was earned against maidens at Tampa Bay Downs in January of last year; looking toward others.
Hey Leroy
He sports some of the stronger and more consistent overall turf form in here and the 94 Beyer Speed Figure he earned for his latest performance is easily the best last race figure in this field; the outside post might not be ideal, but he's clearly a threat to walk away with the top prize. - Brian Pochman

Race 7

Harris
Makes his first start in 20 months following an effort in which he failed to complete the course in New Jersey; 5 year old showed some ability prior to that and he did break his maiden here as a sophomore; nice to see the pilot aboard for that one take interest and the Pletcher barn does bring them back ready, but this may be asking a little too much; consider.
Secret Bid
Well bred colt broke his maiden at a one turn mile in New York last fall and will make his first 2 turn dirt start in this spot; a top pilot get aboard and the barn does an excellent job getting them ready to fire first time back; expecting he'll like the move to this configuration and return with a big effort.
Coin Broker
Field's highest last out Beyer earner tries both 2 turns and winners for the initial time in this spot; he did track a quick clip in that score and the runner up returned to break his maiden with an 88 Beyer; his dam's 2 wins came routing and he certainly gives the indication he'll take to this new configuration; working well since his last, he looks to be the one they'll have to beat.
Rule Number Six
He's in for the optional tag while returning to the main track off a couple of weak turf spins in the claiming ranks; 5 year old does own some sharp back main track route numbers and even the figure he earned in the stake here in December would play out well in this spot, but in his current form it's tough to make a serious case for him.
Cary Street
Ran well to get second money at the level while earning a number that fits here last out; gelding ran big going long in the spring in Kentucky and maybe his return to the races was a sign that he's set to get back on track in this spot; contender.
Elmutahid
He's been away from the races for better than 11 months and now he'll return to face older runners for the initial time; colt looked good breaking his maiden here last winter and he was just in too tough in his 2 subsequent tries; new outfit brings them back ready and he has been working regularly, but wouldn't be surprised if he needed one before we saw his best.
Grad Student
Needed the drop to conditioned claimers to find the winner's circle and he did it against an overmatched bunch; colt isn't the most consistent sort and these are tougher, but maybe he got some confidence back in that last one; can get in the mix for a share.
Bowman's Causeway
Six year old drops a level for his return from the brief freshening for a barn that hasn't had any luck at the local stand; he does own a big figure dirt score and he exits a key route heat; gets another new journeyman pilot, but may be worth an exotics look here. - Steve Grabowski

Race 8

Tuneintobow
Notice the pace transition in his first 3 races; the colt pressed a quick tempo in the last showing behind a blowout winner; should be a major player from the fence and is worth serious follow-up here if inside path has proven favorable; playable.
Candelazo
Came up empty in his maiden voyage and Calder but equipment change can help with a reversal; his sire won the Breeders' Cup Sprint and 1.25 million; the dam won 1 of 9 and 43K; there are no winning siblings to mention.
Heart Break Kid
Very fine breeze pattern shown at Payson Park; the colt's sire won multiple G1s and 3.06 million (progeny of Bernardini have scored in 27 out of 238 debuts); the dam went 2 for 11 earning 58K; winning sibs include 58K bankroller Malibu Wave.
Whats Up Big Guy
Superior a.m. moves of late for this son of Macho Uno, winner of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile and 1.85 million (his offspring are 44 for 356 as far as winning their first test); the dam won 4 of 17 and 103K; among the winning sibs is 169K earner East of Danzig.
A Touch of Poetry
The grey ran a personal best a month ago when holding on strong throughout the running; he had the rail advantage that day, however, and was facing only 5 opponents; probably will face a more testing battle for early command here; difficult assessment.
Curlin's Gem
Yet another newcomer who has shown enthusiasm in the a.m.; his sire is multiple champion Curlin who amassed 10.5 million (his descendants have won approximately 13 percent of their first attempts); the dam won 3 of 8 and 136K; sib to 42K earner Papa G. T.
Flat Jack
Faced a good one last October at Belmont and had a legit excuse in that placing; his sire won 4 of 6 and 148K while the dam won 1 of 14 appearances earning 17K; among the winning siblings is 181K earner Ready and Tough.
American Bond
Even intervals to the workout regimen for this newcomer; his sire won the G1 Wood Memorial and 557K (progeny of Tapit are 60 for 467 in the first time successful department); the dam won a G3 and 485K; there are no winning siblings to highlight.
Salisbury Knight
See Heart Break Kid, above, for information about the same talented sire; this colt's dam never made it to the races; among the winning siblings is 302K earner Willard Straight; turned in a sharp half-mile breeze only 5 days ago.
Little Daddy
His sire won multiple G1s en route to earning a total of 1.33 million; descendants of Scat Daddy have scored in 23 out of 171 initial starts; the dam did not compete; winning siblings include 26K earner Infiltrator; respectable work tab on display. - Jim Kachulis

Race 9

Hamp
He ran pretty well after a layoff just two starts ago and that wasn't the first time that he ran well when fresh; winner from latest won next out here on 2/22 going 1m over turf in a G3 with a 99 Beyer, and Bravo has won with 3 of 8 (38%) mounts for this barn at the current meeting.
Hakama
Not wild about what he's done in his two most recent races and he will have to bounce back with one of his better efforts to prove to be a player against this solid field of 62k optional claimers; runner up from latest won next out here on 3/1 going 1 1/16m over turf vs. 100k OPC's with a 95 Beyer.
Mills
Really like what this gelding did in some of his earlier starts as a 3-year-old, but his form really hasn't improved like one might have envisioned, and his connections will hope that he can produce a sharper start in his second start as a 4-year-old with the addition of blinkers.
Pinball
He hasn't run a bad race to date and he enters this event on a four-race winning streak after getting the job done in his turf debut in his latest outing; he's by a strong turf sire and he boasts the best last race Beyer Speed Figure in here.
Offlee Fast
Respect the fact that this stakes placed runner brings some early speed with him, but there's enough zip in here to prevent him from getting comfortable early on, and he's going to need to show up with his sharpest performance to date to beat this bunch.
Empire Builder
He's multiple graded stakes placed racing over turf, but he hasn't been anywhere near his best in his four most recent races, and he hasn't posted a 1-2 finish from nine starts over this turf course; his most recent win was 15 starts back in August 2012.
Tiz Gianni
He's run some nice races over turf in his career and not going to be at all surprised if he's ready to give a solid account of himself while making his second start after claim for the Bruce Brown barn; runner up from latest won next out at Tam on 3/7 going 1 1/16m in a 100k OPC with a 93 Beyer.
Seekingthediamond
He has a good deal of turf in his pedigree, and from seven turf starts, he's yet to finish worse than third; winner from latest returned to win next out at Wo on 9/22 going 7f in a 125k stakes with a 97 Beyer, and third-place finisher won next out at Wo on 9/28 going 7f vs. 60k OPC's with a 90 Beyer.
Racing Aptitude
Multiple stakes winner has shown the ability to dial up a performance that can make him more than competitive against competition of this caliber and he looks like he might be rounding back into form as he gets ready to make his third start of 2014; this barn has been a little bit quiet at this meeting but they look like they have a live one to send out in this spot.
Sharp Omar
This colt deserves a lot of credit for his consistent approach to the game, and he earned a career best Beyer Speed Figure in his latest start, but he finds himself in against a pretty tough bunch for his first start over the Gulfstream Park turf course.
Rocking Hall
He's run very well in two of his last three turf starts and it's worth noting that he's making his first start for a high win percentage barn that gets the job done with new acquisitions; Castellano has won with 6 of 15 (40%) mounts for this outfit at the current meeting. - Brian Pochman

Race 10

Effie Trinket
Empire-bred has won in open company in the past and she nearly upset last time just could not carry on with the momentum; versatility one of her better assets; cozy slot, and that didn't hurt her two back in the game win; must be left in the exotic mix at least.
Triple Charm (GB)
Off poorly in the stateside bow, but she made amends for the defeat last time; who was she facing in England?; the winner 11/22 won 2 handicaps against big fields since; nice big of training to have her win in only 2nd out after the extended layoff; will likely need to improve a lot to repeat.
Triple Arch
Must prove in stakes company; Jan. 1 place horse cashed next out in an optional spot, then was out of the money in a $75K stakes; she had the excuse of slop two back and can be placed anywhere and still fire; in good hands and barn due for a bit of luck if you check out the 13 slices this meet.
Run a Risk
She ran very well in defeat in optional land last year; miss was in contention last time, just could not pull the trigger; last race came back okay as the 4th finisher took an N3X affair and the 6th finisher beat $16K starter foes next out; could need softer foes.
Parranda
Able to track, stalk or lead all the way and succeed and it's always nice to have options; nobody was set on the lead last time so she made the running, slowed in down and had enough left in the tank; note this rider was up her the win with this miss last September; threepeat well within the scope.
Centre Court
The class is obviously there for this impressive miss as she tries to defend her title; repeatedly proven fresh, nothing wroing with hitting the exacta in 10 of 14 and the last race returned live as the show horse took a Grade 3 next out 4th finisher was 2nd in a G3 and the winner repeated in the G1 Flower Bowl; steady moves, best of 16 bullet in the holster; all systems go.
Tapicat
Must respect her consistency; since graduating, she has never been beaten by more than 3 lengths; inching toward the winner in the Anita finale, Velazquez got a chance to figure her out; should be right there when the smoke clears.
Kitten's Point
Gamer showed talent from Day One and the only off efforts came in the Grade 1s; wonder if connections had this race in mind all the time and just got a nice winning prep into her last time?; she has put big efforts together in the past; far too sharp not to take seriously.
Sonja's Angel
Gave way badly in the Philly fiasco in the summer but had been on her toes since; she has much more speed than she just flashed and will likely be put on the lead saying come catch me if she gets a chance to suit up; dangerous with a lonely effort up front. - Brian Mulligan

Race 11

Scatcapade
She's by a solid turf sire and she enters this race off of what can be viewed as being a useful career debut; she attracted plenty of wagering support for her first start and this Generazio-homebred is eligible to be ready for better the second time around.
Lawn Party
Sire wins with approximately 10% of his first-time starters and with approximately 12% of his turf starters, and this is the first foal from a G2 winning dam who won 5 of 16 starts for 336k, and she didn't make a turf start; Castellano has won with 40 of 109 (37%) mounts for this barn at the current meeting.
Chique to Chique
Sire has won with 2 of 6 (33%) of his first-time starters, and with 4 of 24 (16%) of his turf starters, and this is the first foal from an unraced dam; he has turf in his pedigree and that turf workout on February 18 looks okay.
Forensic
Although she was involved with a comfortable early pace in her career debut, that was a fine effort for a first-time starter going 1 1/16m, and now she gets Lasix for this; she's out of a multiple graded stakes winning dam who won 9 of 22 starts for 554k, including 8 of 16 turf starts for 495k.
Gratitude
Sire wins with approximately 15% of his first-time starters and with approximately 13% of his turf starters, and G2 winning dam won 2 of 4 starts for 117k, and she didn't make a turf start; runner up from latest won next out here on 3/9 going 1m vs. MSW rivals with an 87 Beyer; Saez has won with 8 of 30 (27%) mounts for this barn at the current meeting.
Purrfect Ride
She wasn't able to get much going in her career debut but this Live Oak-homebred goes out for a top turf barn that can have one ready for better at second asking; it could have been said before her career debut as well, but it looks like she's been doing some nice work in the a.m.
Innate Grace
Her best races are still eligble to be in front of her and she's out of a multiple G1 winning dam who won 8 of 23 starts for $1.4 million, including 3 of 6 turf starts for 667k; this filly is a 1/2 to stakes winner Magic Hour (4-14, 203k, including 0-for-1 over turf).
Annie Walker
She's tough to place confidence in after what she's shown in her first two starts, but this is a very capable win-early barn, and she has a little bit of pedigree appeal; she's out of a stakes winning dam who won 3 of 9 starts for 133k, including 2 of 4 turf starts for 87k, and this miss is a 1/2 to Iron Power (3-10, 132k, including 1 of 5 turf starts for 55k).
Holy Empress
Sire wins with approximately 9% of his first-time starters and with approximately 14% of his turf starters, and this is the first foal from a dam who won 2 of 14 starts for 103k, including 1 of 8 turf starts for 38k; Stronach-homebred has plenty of turf works to look at.
Miz Lee
Have to respect the effort this filly showed up with in her career debut at a demanding distance, and she's out of a G3 stakes placed dam who won 4 of 21 turf starts for 173k; there's reason to believe that she can be ready for better at second asking, and she's a 1/2 to Judy G (1-12, 75k over turf).
Checkupfromzneckup
Sire wins with approximately 12% of his first-time starters and G1 stakes placed dam won 3 of 7 starts for 170k, and two of her wins were earned routing; it looks like they tried to tighten the screws in her most recent workout and there's a chance that this race falls apart if it has to be moved to the main track. - Brian Pochman
