Gulfstream Park
Gulfstream: Closer Looks for December 15, 2013
Race 2
Snit Fit
60 days since the upset win 1st time ever on a synthetic surface; heads to turf where she owns her career-best Beyer at 1M on GP grass in March chasing the winner who repeated in a GP-30K claimer with a 76 speed figure; eased on turf 3-back vs. the show runner who Beyered 74 in her next-out SAR-20K-claiming win.
Love Shack (IRE)
Has never handled a wet-main track well in the past so willing to dismiss latest off the 73-day absence a race she likely needed; has been best on turf during career but today is the 1st try on GP green; has a 2-for-10 record without blinkers with a career-best Beyer but the hood came back on for latest loss.
Pyrite Smokin
Exits her lowest speed figure since September, 2010, on wet-CRC dirt; shown none of that good-gate speed in recent losses; posted a field-best Beyer October, 2012, in a 1M CRC-wet turf fade noting her last win was from off the pace; seeking her 1st-GP-green exacta finish in need of a serious wakeup call.
Expropriate
Deep closer never got rolling in recent losses; owns her best Beyer on fast dirt but the 2-back loss suggests she does not want the main track again any time soon; back in one week the short-return angle yields just 8% winners for her trainer.
Guayana
Fired much better on less-than-firm turf; her last grass start was in August when beating the show runner a next-out 57 Beyer CRC-16K claiming winner; solid-dirt form noting her win 1st off the claim was gate-to-wire and her best game is racing on or near the lead; hopes to take these a long way up top.
Zeffee
57 days since her favored dirt win over the show runner who Beyered 64 taking a GP-$6,250 claimer next out; the 0-for-18 turf record suggests she wants this rained off the green; faced quick ones 2-back including the runner-up who Beyered 83 winning a next-out GP alw.; the 3-back runner-up Beyered 77 in her next-out GP-starter alw. score.
Double Berg
0-for-9 record since the career-best Beyer and victory on GP turf at today's distance; late runner sometimes does not get her rally going noting her last win occurred when racing midpack; the 3-back show runner Beyered 74 in a MTH-$12,500 next-out claiming win.
Longing for Quiet
50 days since a near-miss finish; have to go back to February to find a bad race on her form; graduated by more than 15 lengths on a sloppy track following a similar freshening; the 2-back key-race win was rock solid beating the runner-up and show finishers they both Beyered 67 in next-out MED-PRX $7,500-claiming wins; win rider has sizzled at the current meet.
With Gratitude
The winner and 6th-place finishers from last 47 days ago Beyered 69-51 in next-out MNR-starter alw. and 5K-claiming wins; trainer yields just 8%-fresh winners and is 0-for-12 dirt-to-turf; the 3-back winner repeated in a MNR optional claimer with a 65 Beyer.
Noor Un Nisa
Exits back-to-back career-low speed figures; 0-for-10 on turf but hope the grass course can wake her up posting her best number on the green; the show and 4th-place finishers from last Beyered 71-69 in next-out WO-30K and $11,500-claiming wins; the 2-back runner-up Beyered 66 taking a WO-20K claimer next out.
Good Mother Fran
Horse for the course scoring both win pictures on GP green; likely needed last start with 69 days between starts exchanging decisions with Expropriate; huge-late kick 2-back to win at today's distance over the GP green while her July-close defeat saw the winner repeat with a 67 Beyer taking a CRC-16K claimer.
Bala Roja
November, 2012, was her last victory rallying in a CRC-turf 25K-claiming Mile; seeks her 1st-ever GP grass exacta finish showing nothing since September beating 2 runners combined from last trio; would be a complete shocker.
Starship Freedom
The one to catch; GP win was January, 2012, at today's distance in a 25K claimer racing right on the lead; the long layoff is a big drawback but hopes to regroup after the did-not finish pulled up running line; 2-for-2 on wet-main tracks she is doing a serious rain dance for this.
Dreamcastle
Sire is 8-for-119 with 1st-turf starters; is out of an unraced dam; her only other foal to race on grass went 0-for-2; showed she can last 1 Mile 81 days ago in just her 2nd start going long while today is the longest-stamina test of career; the 2-back winner and show finishers Beyered 77-56 in next-out MTH-10K-claiming and PRX-starter alw. wins.
Wild Kira
Main Track Only entry scored 2nd time off the layoff noting she hasn't been at her best off previous freshenings; exits her best Beyer since August, 2012, and her very best form has been at the 7F distance; finished 2nd best behind the April winner who Beyered 71-69 in 2 next-out wins.
Smokin Ali
Career-best Beyer was posted at today's distance on GP green; main knock is that in recent races she was outfinished at shorter than this; the 2-back runner-up finisher Beyered 73 in her next-out GP-30K claiming win; the 3-back runner-up scored next out in a CRC-16K claimer with a 65 speed figure. - Art Gropper
Race 3
Lori's Comprise
Hard to recommend as she has shown little firepower except for some brief early speed; broke from the fence 2 back and was clearly beaten by Farewell Kiss with no known excuse; pass until further notice.
K B Biorhythms
Drops off the claim but exits a solid placing and worked in strong fashion thereafter; her sire won a G1 and 424K; the dam won 3 of 9 attempts and 42K; among the winning siblings is 71K earner Wildcat Appeal.
Vengeful
Firster hails from G3 type Yesbyjimminy who earned 586K and whose offspring have won 2 of 12 debuts; the dam won 4 of 16 and 155K and there are no winning siblings to mention; modest work tab on display.
Formal Quality
Failed to make any impact in either start but makes the powerful descent from special weight class; her sire won 3 of 4 and 92K; the dam won 1 of 5 and 6K; this is her only foal to make it to the starting gate.
Arissa
Flashed good early speed before stopping in her first run; her sire own a G1 and 239K while the dam involved was unraced; among the winning siblings is 65K earner Bulaga; a slower early tempo would help her chances.
Thinkofyou
After a fine first showing, she could handle the stretchout in distance last month; her sire won 1.67 million including G1 success while the dam went 1 for 9 earning 33K; among the winning sibs is 35K earner Integer.
Cocoanut Row
Interesting possibility on the turnback; she was part of the pace in her last 2 attempts and breezed very well around the dogs on 11/25; looks like a comfortable fit today, her first try in the claiming ranks.
Farewell Kiss
Moved up too high on the ladder in the last run and returns to the proper level where she turned in a strong placing 2 back; could be a major stretch threat here if receiving the proper type of pace set-up; consider.
Tracy's Treasure
Although off the board yet again last month, she did show much more in the way of pace prompting ability; latest half-mile breeze was fair and perhaps she can earn a share at better odds than in the last assignment.
Chinita Mia
She has not accomplished much in the special weight class so the return to the claiming realm is warranted; makes her first start at this oval and has shown some modest rallying gear in the past; a difficult runner to unravel.
Jill's Reflection
This marks her 12th maiden attempt and her only exacta finish was over the slop; local record is poor and it is doubtful, even with the drop to this class for the first time, that she can be a major player; cannot endorse.
Moonlight Time
Needed the last start but quite early in the proceedings; her sire won a G2 and 621K while the dam won 4 of 27 and 45K; there are no winning siblings to mention; may fare better with the class relief. - Jim Kachulis
Race 5
Kiss Me Again
From 13 starts, her best finish to date is a fourth, and she hasn't finished closer than 7 1/2 lengths to the winner; after a string of 5 consecutive -0 Beyer Speed Figures, she was eased in her latest outing.
Love That Kelly
Her turf form appears to be right in line with what it will take to get the job done in this spot and this is an outfit that has been doing some of their better work with turf starters; she projects to sit a comfortable trip after breaking from an inside post and going to look for her to be involved in the running every step of the way.
Lisa's Little Girl
She put together a decent late running performance when outperforming her odds in her most recent turf start two races back over this turf course; however, she's going to need to step it up over that effort in order to threaten the top contenders in here.
Bellatara
Saint Anddan has been a poor influence as a turf sire and this filly hasn't recorded a top-three finish from 13 turf starts prior to this, and 11 of those have been over this turf course; she has the look of an outsider.
Fabulous Nicole
She showed up with an improved performance at second asking and she deserves another chance to see what she can do racing over turf; runner up from latest returned to win next out at Tam on 5/4 going 5f vs. MSW rivals with a 61 Beyer and 3rd finisher won next out at CD on 5/12 going 6f vs. MSW rivals with a 73 Beyer.
Exceed the Limit
This filly figures to appreciate getting back over after staying in an off-the-turf event in her latest outing but she is going to need to dial it up a notch or two if she's planning on something more than a minor award.
Go Sandy Go
This filly brings some early speed with her, and she probably won't mind turning back in distance, but can't ignore the fact that she's had trouble maintaining a forward gear through the final furlong in her races.
Alondra Sky
Maybe there's something to be said for this filly making her first start over turf with Lasix, but through her first eight starts, including three turf starts, she's yet to run a race that is fast enough to suggest that she can get the job done against these.
Scorpion Aly
Sire wins with approximately 7% of his first-time starters and with approximately 8% of his turf starters, and dam was winless from one start, and it was a start over turf; a couple of her workouts look okay, but a two-turn mile can be tough on a firster.
Lloyd Harbor
This miss is out of a G3 stakes placed dam who won 2 of 17 turf starts for 86k, and perhaps this filly will be ready for better in her second turf attempt now that she has some experience to draw from; she has at least mild appeal while dropping in with maiden claimers.
Amber Morning
Her form racing over turf has been strong enough to stamp her a top contender in this spot and it's interesting to see that she'll be making her first start wearing blinkers; her dam was a winner of 2 of 5 turf starts for 74k; have to respect her chances.
Boston Garden
She's another in here who has had her chances to show us what she can do, including five starts over turf, and she's going to need to show up with a performance that is much stronger than anything she's done to this point in time in order to contend.
Guigue's Miracle
Her three starts over turf are much better than anything she's done in her seven dirt starts but she's still going to need to find a way to take her game to another level to see her number posted on top after this one is run.
Ever Awesome
It would have been nice to have seen her show more in her latest outing while making just her second start over turf, but she ran well in her first turf attempt, and like the idea of her dropping in class for this; half-sister to Alamanda Drive (6-26, 137k over turf) deserves to be listed among the contenders.
Princess Zaima
She ran well from off the pace the first time she raced over turf, but in three starts since then, including a couple of turf starts, she hasn't been able to build off of that performance; prefer to look in another direction.
Thunder On Tap
Lightly raced 5-year-old needs to see a couple of scratches in order to draw in, but she did take a step in the right direction at second asking while making her first start over turf, and that was against maiden special weight competition. - Brian Pochman
Race 6
Purchango
Trying to bounce back off a career-low Beyer speed figure; won right on the lead to graduate over the GP dirt and his best lone route race was a stakes-placed effort and career-best number; awfully erratic juvenile; in some of his races he just hasn't shown up which was the case in last.
Gone as Wind
Flattered in the debut win when the runner-up finisher Beyered 83 in his next-out CRC-MSW win; sire was a Grade 1-stakes winner at 8.5F on dirt; dam broke her maiden at 8.3F on the main track; 50 days since the sharp debut win stalking the pace and should be able to save ground then make 1 run on these.
Hy Kodiak Warrior
Adds blinkers after DQd for bearing in; the win rider sides with Prudhoe Bay; was so successful without the hood the new equipment is clearly a question mark; the workout for this did not inspire confidence however benefits as a late runner in a field top heavy with suspect-gate speed.
We're All Set
Benefits being a deep closer in a race filled with sprinters stretching out; is back to reality off the stakes losses; rematch with Purchango off the 2-back 2-turn defeat; his sprint-career-best Beyer when a runner-up finisher facing the winner who repeated in a GP alw. with an 85 speed figure.
Arangol
The only race he ever showed anything in was the sprint win on a wet track; doing a rain dance for this; stamina was not his friend in October the 1st time going long then was troubled at the gate break in last; races back in a claimer seeking answers off his lowest Beyer since July.
Mr. Candy
Game as could be on the lead, dropped back then came on again; the light-debut Beyer is not easy to take and especially in a field top heavy with gate speed; the win rider takes Prudhoe Bay; would need a big speed figure boost to be a factor in deep stretch.
Prudhoe Bay
Off-the-pace debut win when favored giving hope he can stretch out successfully in a race packed with gate speed; his sire was a G1-SW at 8.5F on dirt; dam did not race past 6F; the turf workout for this did not inspire confidence but the 27%-two-year-old trainer began this GP meet sizzling.
Coup de Grace
Was no surprise bet down to 1-2 odds in his career debut then held on at 6F to post a field-best Beyer; the added distance here is a concern as he tired late in the unveiling; sire was a Grade 1-SW at 9F on dirt; dam ran once in a dirt route finishing 3rd in the Iowa Oaks.
Gryvon
2nd-time Long is often an improvement angle as he tries to run back to his debut-sprint win; the half-mile workout for this does not bowl you over considering he worked a bullet before his 2nd start; on the lead in last and figures as a pace presence for part pressing a lot of inside speed. - Art Gropper
Race 7
Kellster
Makes her local debut in her first start since bossing New York breds as the chalk at Finger Lakes a couple of month back; her lone turf spun wasn't very good and her sibs are a combined 0 for 3 on the green, but her SP dam was a 4 time turf winner so maybe now that this gal has matured maybe she deserves another crack over the footing; price will be long.
Miss Kit Mambo
Tries winners off the maiden score at Tampa in her return from 3 months on the shelf; her local record isn't much and the numbers she's earned of late don't stack up so well in here; looms a long price today.
Intelyhente
Impressive second out Kentucky graduate was subsequently put in over her head in the sophomore stake there and was sent to the bench thereafter for half a year; she looks to be in a much better spot here and though the work tab is a little spotty of late, the barn brings them back successfully at a pretty nice clip; proven fresh, she may be the one to hold off here.
Divine Luck
Ships back to the scene of her maiden score after offering little from the fence in her New York finale; 4 year old owns competitive numbers and she gets a top pilot for this, but she's been stuck in this condition for quite a while now; factor, but prefer to beat her on the win end.
Dancing for Glory
Just missed in her initial try with older in New York while making her first start back from the break; she's had a month to get over the career best Beyer effort and she's had time to acclimate; barn does nice work second back from the break; contender.
Exclude (GB)
Import was good enough to win her career debut at 9.5 panels overseas before tiring on the slight stretchout when in against male winners in her return from the layoff; this outfit excels with both imports and those making their first start under their care and she will get Lasix for the first time in here; expect she's set to run big.
Indian Starlight
Goes first time for a new outfit while making her local deby after finishing out of it from a wide spot in her finale in New York; she's got early foot so expect she'll be in the thick of this one from the bell and that makes her a threat.
Dance With Gio
Returns from the freshening after failing to factor with restricted stakes runners on the Laurel lawn; her prior effort saw her find the winner's circle but she needed the drop to conditioned claimers to get the job done that day in New York; have to look elsewhere for the winner.
Cloudy Vow
Proved no match for Keeneland turfers at this level in her surface debut last time out; filly was solid on synthetic footing prior to that and her dam was a turf winner, but she'll need to show up with a lot more to contend today.
Starship Pleasant
Looks to get back to the green following a weak spin in the local slop off 8 months on the shelf; filly was solid on turf last year and maybe she has a move forward in her with that last one behind her; price will be right.
Auntie Martha
She'll try winner for the first time after breaking her maiden from an outside slot at Keeneland last time; filly is on the improve and her dam was a very good turfer so now that she's figured the game out maybe she has more to offer; worth a look.
Starship Jodi
Beaten last out chalk moves back to the green while again in for the optional tag at this level; she usually fires a good shot on the green and does own 3 local sod scores; gets yet another new pilot and doesn't draw so well, but she appears capable of getting involved in the outcome here.
Bustle
Beaten last out chalk makes her local return from an outside post, but she lures a top pilot and boasts a sharp recent breeze; number she earned in the Saratoga turf score puts her right in the thick of this one, but she doesn't have any early foot and will need to avoid traffic issues in a bulky field; main threat. - Steve Grabowski
Race 8
Ann of the Dance
Grade 3 stakes placed filly has just a single victory in her last 17 starts going back through 2012 and this looks like a difficult spot for her to be seeking her first turf victory; respect the fact that she hails from a high win percentage barn, but going to look toward others.
Silverette
Multiple stakes winner has looked good since being placed over turf three races ago, and even though those starts were at distances shorter than today's 7 1/2f assignment, she has run well at today's distance over dirt; Lezcano has won with 17 of 58 (29%) mounts for this barn in 2013.
Moment in Dixie
She's earned back-to-back stakes placings since being introduced to the turf game and her most recent race has proven to be productive; winner from latest returned to win next out here on 12/7 going 1 1/16m over turf in a 121k stakes with a 90 Beyer, and runner up won next out at Aqu on 11/22 going 1m over turf vs. 25k OPC's with an 87 Beyer.
Topazio
You have to go back 13 starts and more than a year to find her latest victory and this has to be considered a difficult spot for her to try to snap that losing skid; note that she finished behind a few of today's rivals in her latest outing.
Angel's South
Her two most recent races over turf have been fine performances, but this mare will need to see a slow early pace develop in order to have her best chance, and that doesn't seem likely to happen with horses like Silverette, Baffle Me and Ready Signal signed on.
Baffle Me
She enters this race off of a couple of stakes victories and this filly has had a very nice year while winning three of nine turf starts and more than 200k; she's also run well in all three of her starts over this turf course, and even though she's more of an early speed type, she has shown the ability to tap the brakes a little bit through the opening stages if need be; Castellano has won with 12 of 29 (41%) mounts for this barn in 2013.
Ana Luisa (BRZ)
It looks like she's run well in all three of her starts in Brazil and that includes a victory over turf at today's distance; connections alone make this filly tough to ignore, and it certainly looks like she's been training well in preparation for her first start in America.
Sure Route (GB)
Multiple stakes placed mare enjoyed a comfortable trip when getting the better of a few of today's rivals two starts ago and she will need to have a flashback to one of her better performances in order to have a say in the outcome against these; note that she's winless in her last 21 starts going back through 2012.
Sisterhood
She's a stakes winner racing over turf, but she hasn't been on top of her game in recent starts, and she will need to find her way back to her best performance if she's planning on sneaking her way into the mix against these.
Nicki Starshine
She has multiple stakes wins over turf to her credit but simply feel that she hasn't run a race that is fast enough to suggest that she can put any pressure on the top contenders in this spot.
Dauphine Russe (FR)
She attracted a fair amount of wagering support for her first start in America, and based on what she did racing overseas, there's reason to believe that she didn't show us her best stuff that day; that said, it might be worth noting the presence of Castellano aboard another in here.
Miss Montreal
Her overall turf form has been solid, but this looks like a tough test for her, especially when considering that she likes to be involved in the running through the opening stages and that the early pace in here figures to be swift.
Ready Signal
Her two career wins have come at odds of 36-1 and 27-1, so it's safe to say that she has been able to outrun her odds from time-to-time, but she looks like another in here who will have to produce a career best performance to have a say in the outcome.
Gamay Noir
She enters this race off of the sharpest performance of her career but this has to be considered a tough step up in class for her and she wasn't helped at the post position draw; prefer to look toward others.
Dreaming of Sophia
There are a number of horses in this race who have shown the ability to run well over dirt but this multiple stakes winning filly will clearly merit top contender status if she gets to go in this spot, and she was very sharp the one time she was seen racing over the main track here; she can't be ignored while going out for a barn that has hit at a 41% clip in 2013.
Interesting (IRE)
She needs to see a scratch from the main body of this race in order to draw in, and an extreme outside post awaits, but she is G3 stakes placed racing in France, and this Darley-homebred will certainly add a good deal of intrigue to this event if she gets to go. - Brian Pochman
Race 9
Boheme de Lavi
She has been a bad actress at the game a few times now; miss could have just been overmatched in last; miss would probably have to double that last Beyer performance at least to make an impact here; needs a rebound run.
Dreaminofauntdiane
Visually impressive to kick it off; show horse was nearly 3 clear; more experienced pilot hired for this and Ziadie can keep them going good once they get good to the tune of 35%; miss may have to come from slightly off the pace this time.
Sunset Silhouette
Two excuses in last, the distance and the off going; she broke her maiden doing something that is not easy and that's winning a MSW after repeated defeats for a tag; that was a big field in last and there seems to be enough speed here to help the cause; look for her to show up in the late stages if at all.
Onlyforyou
Solid trip at first asking and she was inching away late; she broke in at the start making slight contact with eventual second finisher, who was the second choice; connections could have options late as dam was G3 placed and a turf performer; look out.
Fun Elusive
Toss the Keeneland race; she may not have wanted to go that far and was not herself when acting up at the gate; nice rider in last as pilot opened up and made them come get this gal; apparently not much of a work horse, would have liked to have seen some local activity.
Golden Friendships
Not sure this grinder is best going short; miss can be her own worst enemy since she tends to concede lengths early on; a slice may be the ceiling once again.
Red Brunette
Miss bobbled early and last all shot last time; the 2nd and 7th finishers in the debut graduated next out; backers can point to the fact here are several 6-figure earners in the tree including Grade 3 winner and over $400K earner Devilish Lady; could rebound in a big way today.
Inner Goddess
She has fired every time and may just want to hear her feet rattle; both losses came in the off going; this miss has a right to mature with grace as kin to 4-time juvenile winner, G3 winner and over $300K earner Brave Dave; she may have just needed her last too; must prove she can go this far.
Bella Traviata
Miss has not been able to duplicate her debut Beyer and has lost ground in the race since the August opener; she has a right to grow into her skin as kin to double SW and over $300K earner Afleet Deceit; could envision a trip where she will sit 4 or so off a valid pace; don't ignore.
Istrue
Bet like a good thing and he won in professional manner; he has trained fast since accentuated by the best of 33 bullet on Monday; the debut came back okay as the place horse took a MSW next out and the 4th finisher beat maiden $50K claimers; must be left in the mix.
Benny's Bombshell
Don't be oversold by the margin in bow as it was mud aided; those things happen in the goo; trainer has spotted them just fine with limited starters and the show horse in the debut graduated next out by a head in a MSW at MNR with a 48 Beyer; would lean toward watching a local race.
City in Sky
First time for sale, you would expect it to be an all out go; she has the local win but it came at the abbreviated distance; must find a way to turn the tables on the Sano runner among others. - Brian Mulligan
Race 10
Goodboycharlie
Stretches out for the move to the lawn while dropping in for a tag off a poor MSW debut effort in the local slop last month; his sire is 0 for 4 with his first time turfers and the dam was 0 for 1 on the green prior to dropping 2 foals who both won on the green including SP, 292K earner Winsome Charm.
Gemsum
Offered some speed before backing out of it first time out and maybe it was the outside draw that did him in last time; drops to claimers for the stretchout and one of the unraced dam's 2 foals to race did win on the lawn; barn hasn't had much recent luck moving them to the green.
Westye's Dream
Took some money in his sprint debut over the Laurel lawn but didn't offer much run; maybe the time off helps as he does go for a barn that hits at a nice clip fresh as well as with runners who have had a race; lone sib was 0 for 3 on the green but did win 4 main track routes so maybe the added ground helps.
Kwacha
He's yet another going for sale in his local debut and he's run pretty well in each of his turf route tries; maybe getting off the fence helps and he does get the services of a top turf pilot for this one; he's kin to G2 SP, SW turfers and 202K earner Extensive; contender for a profitable juvenile outfit.
War Artist
Offered a little bit of early foot while sprinting with MSWs on the local main track and now he'll try claimers and the lawn with a switch to a bug pilot; colt's sire gets only 5% first time surface winners from his offspring and he's the first foal out of the unraced dam to try the lawn.
My Uncle Charlie
Goes first time for a tag while getting off the fence following another off the board effort on the local main track, this time in the slop; his barn has had some recent luck on the class drop and his sire gets 10% first time surface winners from his offspring; dam dropped a handful of winners including 2 who won on the green.
Aunt Ruby's Kitten
Took money in his Belmont debut due to his connections and did show a little bit of run after a rough start before coming up short in the lane; he'll add the hood for this and the barn hits at a nice clip with its fresh runners; not much surface pedigree on the dam's side, but this guy certainly has a right to improve with the experience behind him.
Meuser
Barn's second runner in here makes his first local start after being given a little extra time off the narrow first out defeat in New York in which he took little tote support; SP dam won twice on the green prior to dropping a surface winner; top pilot takes the return call on a colt who earned the field's best number in that debut placing and he's worked regularly down here in the interim for his return; they'll have him to beat.
Dark and Dusty
Offered little in his 2 starts in Jersey this summer and has been idle nearly 3 months since; he does have surface experience so maybe he's better second time over the footing for a sharp fresh barn that's gotten off to a nice start here.
Livingston
Sire gets less than 3% first out winners and 4% winners from his first time turfers and the dam was a 3 time sprint winner who never tried the lawn; all 3 of this guy's foals to try the green won over the stuff and though the barn boasts unimpressive numbers with today's applicable angles, this gray's recent gate drill suggests he's on his toes for the unveiling.
Crossed Boundary
Caught slop first out and after a rough beginning didn't do a lot of running; barn does much better with those who have had a race and this colt did return to work quickly earlier in the week; sire gets about 15% winners with his initial turfers and the unraced dam dropped 2 overseas winners as well as 1 turf winners in the states; expecting better.
Headwing
Sire has seen just 1 of his 22 runners win first out and none of the 6 trying the lawn for the initial time; dam was winless from 5 tries, 2 of which came on the green and her lone foal to try grass was 0 for 2 on it; works aren't much but the barn has made the most of its recent first out runners.
Polished Degree
Most experienced runner in here tries the lawn for the first time while also being dropped in for a tag after failing to get the job done with MSWs; colt has shown some solid early interest and he should again be able to find a spot close to the top today; his sibs are a combined 0 for 9 on the lawn and his sire gets about 7% first time surface winners from his offspring.
Ack Rider
Sire gets 9% debut winners from his offspring and is 2 for 28 with his initial turf starters; dam was 0 for 2 on the track prior to dropping winners from 3 of her 4 foals to race including 1.3 million earner and G1 SP, multiple G2 SW turfer Proudinsky; top barn and pilot are in his corner but this is a tough draw and they offer him for less than he went for at auction last year. - Steve Grabowski
