Guild replies to inquiry

The Jockeys' Guild has responded to a request from U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield for a number of documents related to the guild's financial status and the qualifications of its chief executive, a spokesman for Rep. Whitfield said on Wednesday.

The spokesman, Jeff Miles, said the Guild has been "fully cooperative" with the request. Because of restrictions on packages sent to congressmen in the wake of recent anthrax threats, however, the documents had not arrived in Washington, D.C., by the May 4 deadline set by Whitfield's office, but were at a holding facility in New Jersey.

"We don't know the extent of that cooperation, because we have not been able to review the documents," said Miles.
