Gryder rides three winners of CTHS Sales Stakes

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Veteran jockey Aaron Gryder won five races in a row at Hastings on Friday night. He also won three of the four $50,000 CTHS Sales Stakes that were featured on the seven-race card.
His streak began with a front-running ride aboard Notice in the 2-year-old fillies division of the CTHS Sales Stakes. The homebred daughter of Stephanotis set moderate interior fractions of 23.14 and 47.33 seconds on her way to a 4 1/2-length upset over heavily favored Honky Tonk Woman. Backseat Rider finished a head behind Honky Tonk Woman.
Notice paid $12.30 and posted a final time of 1:19.0 for 6 1/2 furlongs. She is owned by Canmor Farms.
Gryder brought Call It a Wrap from well back to win the 2-year-old colts-and-geldings division. The son of Finality paid $7.80 for his one-length win over Bugsy, who was the 9-5 favorite in the 6 1/2-furlong dash. Aleutian Harbour finished third. The final time was 1:19.61.
Call It a Wrap races for Riversedge Racing Stables Ltd. and is trained by Craig MacPherson.
Strate Remark gave Riversedge, MacPherson, and Gryder another win in the 3- and 4-year-old colts-and-geldings division. The 4-year-old son of Sungold paid $2.90 for his front-running win over Wise Remark in the 1 1/16-mile race. The final margin was three-quarters of a length. The final time was 1:45.66.
The 3- and 4-year-old fillies division was won by the only sophomore in the three-horse field, Cypress Park. She paid $9.40 for her 1 1/4-quarter length front-running win over Yukon Belle in the 1 1/16-mile. Enrique Gonzalez rode the daughter of Second in Command for trainer Anita Bolton. Cypress Park is owned by Nick and Pauline Felicella.
The heavily favored Daz Lin Dawn was never a threat while finishing third with Gryder aboard.
The final time was 1:45.57.
Gryder, 48, also won with Shooting Jacket ($10.30) and Chase the Money ($8.80).
“It’s happened before,” said Gryder. “I’ve won five at Churchill Downs, Santa Anita, Aqueduct, Arlington, and Hollywood Park twice. Now, I can add Hastings to the list.”
