Growing Rainbow 6 pot set for mandatory dispersal Sunday
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – One allowance (race 10) and one optional-claiming starter (race 5) are part of an 11-race Friday card otherwise filled with maiden and/or claiming races on yet another Gulfstream Park program for which the Rainbow 6 is the main storyline.
The 20-cent Rainbow 6 will span races 6 to 11, with first post set for 12:35 p.m. Eastern and the Rainbow sequence to kick off at 3:02. The Rainbow 6 began Wednesday with $3,129,358 in a jackpot pool that has not been swept by a solo winning ticket since Dec. 7.

Gulfstream officials have ordered a dispersal of the entire Rainbow 6 pool on Sunday, meaning a veritable feeding frenzy among horseplayers will ensue – assuming no one has swept the jackpot beforehand as Daniel Borislow famously did nearly four years ago.
On May 25, 2014, with a dispersal scheduled for the following day, Borislow ambushed his fellow bettors by hitting for a record $6,678,939 after buying a ticket of $7,603.20 at the Palm Beach Kennel Club. Less than two months later, Borislow died of a heart attack at age 52 with his Rainbow 6 coup perhaps overshadowing his legacy as a brash entrepreneur, horse owner, and gambler.
Assuming someone does not pull the same stunning feat before Sunday, the track’s all-time single-day Rainbow 6 handle record of $10,783,375 could be in jeopardy. That was set on March 26, 2016, when perfect tickets paid $89,456 each on a mandatory dispersal.
