Groupie Doll, Eblouissante headline Keeneland November sale catalog

DRF Breeding Staff|Sep 27, 2013

Champion Groupie Doll, Zenyatta’s half-sister Eblouissante, and mares carrying foals from the first crop of European champion Frankel are among the marquee offerings in the catalog for the 2013 Keeneland November breeding stock sale, to be held from Nov. 5-14.

The 3,602-horse catalog will be available online Oct. 1, while print catalogs will be mailed the week of Oct. 14.
Included in this year’s Keeneland November sale are 1,739 broodmares and broodmare prospects, 1,364 weanlings, 481 horses of racing age, 10 yearlings and eight stallions.

The catalog will include Groupie Doll, who earned the 2012 Eclipse Award as champion female sprinter and who set a course record in winning the Grade 2 Presque Isle Masters in her most recent start. Other young Grade or Group 1 winners cataloged in the November sale include Byrama, Daisy Devine, Executiveprivilege, Lady of Fifty, Lady of Shamrock, and Summer Soiree, who is in foal to Medaglia d’Oro.

The sale also will be feature the dispersal of E. Paul Robsham Stables, consigned by Lane's End, agent, and the dispersal of late owner-breeder Eric Kronfeld’s stock, consigned by Winter Quarter Farm, agent.

Robsham's dispersal consists of 24 mares, weanlings, and yearlings and features Grade 1 winners Awesome Maria, in foal to Giant's Causeway, and R Heat Lightning, in foal to Bernardini . The Kronfeld dispersal includes Eblouissante, a winning daughter of Bernardini and a half-sister to 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta.

A number of horses of racing age will be sold Nov. 12 and will include consignments from WinStar Racing, agent, and Adena Springs, agent.

"This year's November sale catalog is particularly exceptional, offering a unique selection of Grade 1 stakes-winning fillies and young, graded stakes-performing mares," Keeneland vice president of sales Walt Robertson said. "These broodmare prospects are highly prized by breeding operations around the world."

The November sale will also feature mares in foal to new sires, including unbeaten Frankel, two-time Cartier European Horse of the Year. Other first-year sires represented include Algorithms, Shackleford, Stay Thirsty, The Factor, and To Honor and Serve.

Among the sires being represented by their first weanlings at this year’s sale include Cape Blanco, Gio Ponti, Lonhro, Trappe Shot and Uncle Mo.
