Gross up through 10 sessions at Keeneland November
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The young broodmare Upandtotheright sold for $77,000 to lead Friday's session as, with two days remaining, the Keeneland November breeding stock sale surpassed its total gross from 2018's renewal.
Through 10 of 12 sessions at Keeneland November, a total of 2,370 horses have sold for revenues of $198,257,400. Last year's 12-session sale finished with 2,644 horses sold for $197,851,300.
Friday's session included 202 horses sold for $1,941,400, resulting in an average price of $9,611 and median of $6,500. With more horses sold, at 243, last year's comparable 10th session finished with a gross of $9,924,800 and average of $12,063. While these were session-to-session declines in gross and average, this year's 10th session did finish with the same median as 2018, at $6,500. The buyback rate was 23 percent, compared to 21 percent.
The unraced Upandtotheright sold carrying her first foal, to the cover of Connect from the Grade 1 winner's second season. The Creative Cause mare was purchased by Hill 'n' Dale Farm, from the consignment of Lane's End, as agent.
Upandtotheright is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner The Pamplemousse, stakes winner American Lady, stakes-placed Emmzy and Thermostat, and stakes producer Comfort and Joy. Their dam, the winning Comfort Zone, is a half-sister to stakes winners Braari, Consent, Special Alert, and Special Moves. Braari, Special Alert, and Special Moves are all the dams of stakes winners.
