Greenwood win keeps Pink Lloyd perfect on season

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Pink Lloyd racked up another stakes win in Saturday’s $125,000 Greenwood, winning the six-furlong sprint comfortably under 125 pounds at Woodbine.
With Eurico Da Silva aboard, Pink Lloyd ($2.70) raced in fourth on the backstretch, as Circle of Friends and Sumerian Bell dueled through fast early splits.
Pink Lloyd made a powerful wide move to the lead entering the stretch, and then opened up a clear lead before loafing late, scoring by 1 3/4 lengths over Marten Lake. After missing the break, Call Me Wally rallied wide from last to finish a distant third in the seven-horse field of Ontario-breds.
The Greenwood was rescheduled from last Saturday, when it was on the portion of the card that was canceled due to inclement weather.
“I wasn’t really concerned about the delay,” said trainer Robert Tiller. “I knew we had him in good order. He was happy. As long as everything went good at the gate, and [without] his little issues from last fall, I knew he would run a big one. He’s a smart horse.”
A seven-year-old by Old Forester, Pink Lloyd covered the distance in 1:08.98. He earned $75,000 in his 15th stakes success for Entourage Stable.
