HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Greeley and Ben, who was one of the winningest horses in North America in 2021, hit a milestone of 20 career wins Sunday at Oaklawn Park.

And he did it with style.

Greeley and Ben tracked the pace from the rail in a conditioned allowance that carried a $62,500 claiming option, got through along the inside in the stretch, and shuttled home to cover six furlongs in a super-quick 1:08.67. For the effort, Greeley and Ben earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 94.

It was the latest admirable performance from the 8-year-old gelding who overall has made 32 starts and earned $677,198. A good deal of his success has come for the End Zone Athletics stable of trainer Karl Broberg, who claimed the horse for $10,000.

But Greeley and Ben’s next start will come for new connections as he was claimed Sunday. His new owner is Thaddeus Wier Jr., and his new trainer is listed as Melton Wilson. There was one claim in for the horse, according to a claims report from Oaklawn.

Overall this meet, there have been 636 claims for $12.9 million in transactions, according to the same report.

Greeley and Ben went 11 for 15 in 2021, with earnings of $269,277. This year, he is 4 for 5 with earnings of $192,800.

Greeley and Ben won his first stakes last year in the David M. Vance at Remington Park. This year has won two stakes, one at Delta Downs and the other at Sam Houston Race Park. He is a son of Greeley’s Conquest.
