MUSKEGON, Mich. - Terry Houghton, who was was hit in the head by a trailing horse after his mount clipped heels and threw him to the ground Aug. 25, is at home with his family in Livonia after a stay at a Muskegon hospital.

"He's fine now, but the doctors aren't ready to release him to ride," said his father, Ronnie Houghton. "They're saying a couple of weeks or longer until he can come back."

Houghton was six wins off the pace of Russell Baze, the national leader, until the accident. He was still in second place through last Sunday with 256 wins, 23 behind Baze.

Freddie Mata, second in the jockey standings to Houghton, won five races on Tuesday's card.

* Great Lakes Downs will offer two $45,000 stakes for fillies and mares Friday night - the Sickle's Image Stakes for 2-year-olds and the Farer Belle Lee Handicap for 3-year-olds and up.

Miss the Kiss, the favorite in the Sickle's Image, will face almost the same group she defeated last month in the Temptress Stakes. She led all the way to win by nearly three lengths in that race, which also was run at six furlongs.

I Match Too is the choice in the 1 1/16-mile Farer Belle Lee, despite being distanced in an allowance race in her last start. She was bumped that day at the start, which compromised her chances.

I Match Too has been consistent, and she won the Moonbeam Handicap in August, also at this distance.

Tank Grrrl, who won the allowance race in which I Match Too was distanced, also is entered in the Farer Belle Lee.
