Great Lakes: 'Guy' favored

MUSKEGON, Mich. - Accountable Guy is the favorite for the $45,000 Dowling Stakes. The winner of last month's Spartan Stakes, Accountable Guy will face nine other Michigan-bred colts and geldings in the one-mile feature, which concludes the eight-race card.

Ronnie Allen trains the homebred Accountable Guy for Jerry and Felicia Campbell. Freddie Mata will break Accountable Guy from the inside post.

Spring Winds, from the Gerald Bennett barn, won the Lansing Stakes in June, but fell victim to Accountable Guy in the Spartan. He is on the verge of passing $100,000 in earnings. Terry Houghton rides Spring Winds from post 8.

Facing those two, from the inside, are Goldinrunner, Tim Jessup the rider; Clinton County, Mary Doser; Equi Power, Luis J. Martinez; Final Reel, Octavio Bernal; Match Flight, James Schwartz; Lite Ruckus, Roberto A. Perez; American Deputy, Tommy Molina; and Pito, Luis J. Martinez Jr.
