Two Emmys, all being well, returns from a long layoff Dec. 23 in the Buddy Diliberto Memorial, principal owner and trainer Hugh Robertson said Wednesday. The 7-year-old English Channel gelding hasn’t raced since he won the Fair Grounds Stakes last February by more than four lengths. Two Emmys, purchased by Robertson for $4,500 as a yearling, is approaching $1 million in earnings. He won the Grade 2 Muniz Memorial at Fair Grounds in 2022 and finished second in the 2021 renewal, and in August 2021 beat top-class Domestic Spending in the Grade 1 Mr. D Stakes, formerly the Arlington Million. Two Emmys, a narrow-framed horse, has filled out since he last raced. “He might be too fat to run,” Robertson joked. “He found the good life and might not want to try anymore.” ◗ James Graham won his 3,000th race in North America on Sunday at Fair Grounds. Graham, a 43-year-old native of Dublin, had limited success as an apprentice and young journeyman in Ireland but gained traction after moving his tack to Chicago and New Orleans in 2003. ◗ Breeze Easy makes her first start for Brad Cox and is a bet-against as the 8-5 morning-line favorite in the featured seventh race Friday. The 4-year-old filly already has lost four times turf sprinting in second-level allowance races like Friday’s. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
