Graded stakes winner Deceptive Vision retired at 5

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Two-time graded stakes winner Deceptive Vision has been retired from racing due to bone bruising on her left hind leg, trainer Malcolm Pierce said.
When the injury occurred in June, Pierce expected Deceptive Vision, 5, to return to training within a couple of weeks, but a scan revealed that the recovery time was going to take longer than anticipated.
“We did a scintigraphy on her in Kentucky, and she was going to need three months off,” he said. “We have decided that she is retired from racing, and she is going to go into the broodmare band. She was going to finish out this year and then go to the broodmare band anyway, but now, since the recovery period is going to take so long, if we get her fit again, it’s going to be breeding season.”
Pierce said Deceptive Vision’s absence has already been felt.
“I miss her,” he said. “She was a big part of our stable, but at least she retired without getting hurt or vanned off or anything like that. She did the injury in the morning, and we found it before we raced her. It was nothing serious, no surgery required, but enough that recovery time was going to be too long to bring her back to the races.”
Deceptive Vision retires with five wins from 10 career starts, including victories in the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes last year and the Grade 3 Doubledogdare Stakes in April. She finished in the money in all 10 of her starts and earned $543,220 for owner and breeder Sam-Son Farm.
